    • Lugo gets 10th win after six strong vs. Dodgers
      Seth Lugo gave up two runs in six innings to get a win against the Dodgers on Saturday.

      Advice: The victory is already the 10th of the season for Lugo. The right-hander allowed a two-run single to Gavin Lux in the fourth, but outside of that he handled the Dodgers lineup without many issues. He scattered six hits allowed while walking just one and striking out four. Lugo has been excellent in 2024, and it’d be a surprise if he wasn’t an All-Star at this point.       Walker (3-2) took the loss to the Orioles on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Walker was given an early 2-0 lead, but the Orioles chipped away with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and a solo home run by Anthony Santander in the fourth. Santander then broke the tie with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Walker was pulled with one out to go in the frame at 92 pitches. Walker has pitched into the sixth inning in his past two starts but has not recorded a quality start or a win since May 11.       Taijuan Walker allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

      Advice: Walker tossed a clean first inning, then worked around two baserunners in the second. A double, base hit, and a sacrifice fly brought the first run across the board for the Orioles in the third inning. Anthony Santander then led off the fourth with a solo homer. Walker would pitch into the sixth, giving up the go-ahead run on two hits and a sacrifice fly before leaving with two outs.       The Yankees are expected to decide this weekend whether Cole (elbow) will need another rehab start or if he's ready to rejoin the Yankees' rotation, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

      Advice: Cole was dominant in his third rehab start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, pitching 4.1 innings during which he allowed an unearned run on two hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner tossed 70 pitches in the outing, so he'd likely have his workload managed to some extent if his next trip to the mound is with the big club. If it's determined that Cole needs another rehab start, it would be for ramp-up reasons rather than due to effectiveness -- he's dominated minor leaguers in his three appearances, posting a 19:0 K:BB while allowing just one earned run over 12.1 frames. Diaz has converted eight straight saves and 15 of his 17 chances this season.       Gerrit Cole delivered a dominant performance in his final minor league rehab start at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday night, racking up 10 strikeouts over his 4 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Cole surrendered just an unearned run on two hits on the night and didn’t walk a batter. He threw 70 pitches — 46 of them for strikes.       Yates picked up the save over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one walk over a scoreless ninth inning while striking out three.

      Advice: Yates had a bit of a hard time getting through the ninth after entering the contest with a two-run lead, surrendering a leadoff walk to Teoscar Hernandez on five pitches and advancing him to second base on a balk. However, the veteran reliever made short work of the next three batters, getting all three to go down swinging as he secured his 10th save in as many chances. Yates has been solid in the closer role for Texas thus far and holds a 1.11 ERA on the campaign.
