    • Snags seventh win
Neris (7-2) tossed a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the win in Thursday's 5-3, 10-inning victory over the Giants.

Advice: Neris went through a rough patch earlier this month but he's pitched better lately, tossing scoreless innings in consecutive outings with four total strikeouts. The veteran once again didn't see a save opportunity, as that went to Porter Hodge on Thursday, but it was encouraging to see Neris still work in a high-leverage spot. He figures to remain Chicago's closer moving forward, though he could be replaced if his struggles resurface. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:23 pm
    • Tanner Scott collects 11th save on Thursday
Tanner Scott tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Phillies to notch his 11th save of the season.

Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a three-run lead against the division-rival Phillies and set down the side in order on just nine pitches (six strikes). The 29-year-old lefty has converted 11 of 13 save opportunities to accompany a 1.54 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36/23 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (34 appearances). He hasn’t allowed a run in seven consecutive appearances since June 17. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
    • Rangers release reliever Nabil Crismatt
      Rangers release Nabil Crismatt.

Advice: Crismatt made five relief appearances earlier this season for the Dodgers before heading over to the Rangers, where he didn’t end up getting a call back to the majors. The 29-year-old righty should be able to latch on somewhere as emergency organizational relief depth. He’s made 114 appearances in the big leagues since 2020. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:51 pm
    • José Quijada (elbow) starts rehab assignment
José Quijada (elbow) started a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.

Advice: Quijada is working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery and will need at least a few more rehab outings in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League before facing some higher-level competition. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:33 pm

    • Shuster gets win with three in relief
Jared Shuster picked up the win while throwing three scoreless innings in relief in the first game of a doubleheader against Atlanta.

Advice: Shuster came in to work three innings of bulk relief after Chad Kuhl exited after three frames. The 25-year-old is the 27th player for the doubleheader against Atlanta — Shuster’s former organization — and he made a case for staying up while striking out two and allowing just one hit. Shuster has pitched well in his limited chances with the White Sox, but even if he did get called up into a full-time role, there’s a lot working against him as a potential fantasy option. • Michael Kopech picks up save vs. Atlanta
Michael Kopech pitched a scoreless ninth to get a save Thursday against Atlanta.

Advice: Kopech didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout. That’s the sixth save of the season for the 28-year-old, and the scoreless frame lowered his ERA to a still-shaky 4.59 on the 2024 season. Kopech is a trade candidate that could be playing elsewhere, but his fantasy value would be severely limited if he’s not a closer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:56 pm

    • Jordan Hicks strikes out seven, allows three vs. Cubs
Jordan Hicks gave up three runs in five innings while striking out seven against the Cubs on Thursday, but he didn’t factor into the decision.

Advice: All three runs were given up in the third, as he gave up a two-run homer to Nico Hoerner and an RBI triple to Seiya Suzuki. The right-hander was strong outside of that frame while showing off his swing-and-miss stuff. In his first season with the Giants, Hicks had a 3.36 ERA, 76/33 K/BB and 1.28 WHIP across 85 1/3 innings in his 17 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:51 pm

    • Oliver Ortega undergoes season-ending surgery
Oliver Ortega underwent season-ending surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone spur from his right elbow.

Advice: Ortega underwent elbow surgery back in late March to remove loose bodies in his right elbow and underwent an additional procedure earlier this week that will end his season. The 27-year-old righty was claimed off waivers last October from the Twins and has yet to pitch for the Astros. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:43 pm

    • Returns from injured list
The Tigers reinstated Faedo (hip) from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Faedo made three rehab appearances at Triple-A Toledo, during which he gave up one run over three innings while striking out four batters and walking four. He owns a 3.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 34.2 frames in the majors, and he'll slide back into a middle relief role now that he's been cleared to rejoin the Tigers' bullpen. Keider Montero was optioned to Toledo in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:00 pm
