    • On bench for nightcap
Jeffers is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Athletics.

Advice: Jeffers will get a breather after he went 1-for-4 in the team's 6-2 win over Oakland in Game 1. Christian Vazquez will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the nightcap. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Resting for day game
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Alvarez will get a breather for the day game Sunday after he started behind the plate Friday and Saturday. Luis Torrens will step in as the Mets' starting catcher in place of Alvarez, who has gone 2-for-14 with two RBI through his first four starts since returning from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. • Receiving Friday off
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: Jeffers has yet to make consecutive starts behind the plate this season, and his playing time has slipped lately, as he hasn't made a start at designated hitter since June 1. It's been a rough month so far for the 27-year-old, who has gone 3-for-30 through nine contests. Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate Friday to catch for Simeon Woods Richardson. • Sitting out Thursday
Alvarez is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Marlins.

Advice: Alvarez started at catcher in the first two games of the series after being activated from the 10-day injured list, but he will sit out the finale. Luis Torrens will do the catching for Luis Severino. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:09 pm
    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Jeffers is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies.

Advice: Jeffers started at catcher in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies, so he will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon tilt. Christian Vazquez will be behind the plate for the rubber game of the series. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:50 am

    • Mets activate Alvarez (thumb) off injured list
Mets activated C Francisco Alvarez off the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Alvarez is back after missing close to six weeks while recovering from left thumb surgery. The 22-year-old should see the overwhelming majority of reps behind the plate, and the power in his right-handed bat makes him worthy of fantasy consideration in most formats. Just keep in mind that he’s not likely to fill out many other categories in 2024. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:59 am
    • Activated from injured list
The Mets activated Alvarez (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Alvarez has been sidelined since late April with a fractured left thumb but is ready to roll after playing in six rehab games. It's possible the Mets will ease him back into everyday action with some extra off days mixed in, but he will immediately regain his role as the club's primary catcher. Alvarez was slashing .236/.288/.364 with one home run in 16 contests before getting hurt. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:42 am
    • Absent from lineup
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rockies.

Advice: He and Christian Vazquez have now alternated starts at catcher over the last seven games for the Twins. Jeffers has slowed down considerably in June with just two hits in his first 22 plate appearances, so perhaps the extra rest will help recharge his batteries. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:40 pm

    • Resumes rehab in Brooklyn
Alvarez (thumb) resumed his rehab assignment Sunday with High-A Brooklyn, starting at catcher while going 0-for-5 in a 7-6 loss to Aberdeen.

Advice: After going 3-for-14 with a home run and three walks across the first five games of his rehab assignment, Alvarez had been out of the Brooklyn lineup for each of the previous three days while tending to a family matter in his native Venezuela. He rejoined Brooklyn for its final game of the week, and though he came up empty at the plate, getting additional at-bats under his belt is the more pressing concern for Alvarez as he looks to prove he's made a full recovery from the left thumb surgery he underwent in late April. If the Mets are comfortable with Alvarez's health coming out of Sunday's contest, he could be activated from the 10-day injured list for the start of the big club's series with the Marlins that begins Tuesday.
