    • Dodgers transfer Max Muncy to 60-day IL
Dodgers transferred INF Max Muncy to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 33-year-old slugger has been shelved since May 17 due to a right oblique strain. There’s still no clear timetable for when he may be able to rejoin the Dodgers, though he now won’t be eligible to return until July 16 at the earliest. Muncy did take ground balls prior to Friday’s game, but he has a long way to go to build back up before he’s ready to be activated. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:02 pm

    • Erick Fedde pitches well in loss to Tigers Friday
Erick Fedde pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Friday night, allowing just two runs on five hits over seven strong innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander punched out three batters on the evening while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came on one mighty swing of the bat by Carson Kelly on a 2-1 sweeper in the second inning. He settled in beautifully after that and retired the final 14 batters that he faced in the contest, but the White Sox were unable to provide the requisite support. Fedde got 12 whiffs on 92 pitches on the night — six on his sinker — while registering a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll carry a 5-2 record, 3.05 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and an 86/24 K/BB ratio (94 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:56 pm
    • Transferred to 60-day IL
The Dodgers Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jack Harris reports.

Advice: Muncy was placed on the 10-day IL on May 17 due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. It took him nearly a month to begin taking dry swings and he has been limited to fielding grounders and running the bases. With more steps needed before beginning a rehab assignment, the Dodgers opted to move Muncy to the 60-day IL on Friday, meaning he won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers activated Kyle Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, per Harris. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:55 pm

    • Will Smith absent from Dodgers lineup on Friday
Will Smith is absent from the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s opener of their two-game Freeway Series against the Angels in Los Angeles.

Advice: It’s a bit surprising to see the 29-year-old slugger sitting against a left-hander, but there hasn’t been any word yet about Smith dealing with any sort of injury. He did start three of the four games against the Rockies in Colorado, so perhaps it’s just a day of rest. Austin Barnes will do the catching for the Dodgers on Friday night and will bat ninth against Patrick Sandoval and the Angels. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:37 pm

    • Riding pine Friday
Smith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Smith has caught four of the Dodgers' last five games and will give way to Austin Barnes behind the plate Friday. Smith has just two hits in his last 23 at-bats; however, the hits were a two-RBI triple and a solo homer. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:09 pm

    • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will be activated on Saturday
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will be activated from the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder rejoined the team on Friday, but since he wasn’t going to start against left-hander Andrew Abbott anyways, the Red Sox are waiting an additional day to officially activate him from the injured list. He’ll return to a .272/.344/.485 slash line with six homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 53 games on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:06 pm

    • Likely to be activated Saturday
Abreu (ankle) is likely to be activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Abreu is with the Red Sox in Cincinnati but hasn't been activated just yet, probably because the Reds are starting a left-hander Friday in Andrew Abbott. Expect Abreu to be activated and in Saturday's lineup versus righty Frankie Montas. He's been sidelined since early June with a right ankle sprain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Smacks 10th homer
Ramos went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: The outfielder has been on a power surge with four homers over his last seven games, and he's added 11 RBI in that span. Ramos leads the Giants with 10 long balls this season, and every other player on the team with at least five homers has played in a minimum of 50 games compared to his 39. Ramos has added a .307/.382/.553 slash line with 35 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles across 170 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:18 am
    • Belts walk-off homer
Cronenworth went 2-for-5 with a walk-off solo home run and an additional run in Thursday's 7-6 win against the Brewers.

Advice: Cronenworth became the latest ninth-inning hero for the Padres when he swatted a 401-foot solo blast to give the team its third straight walk-off win. The long ball was the 11th of the season through 74 games for the infielder, who has already surpassed his total of 10 homers over 127 contests last year. Cronenworth is on pace to exceed his career-best totals of 21 home runs and 71 RBI, which he established in 2021. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 am
