    • Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers. • Tosses quality start for fourth win
King (4-4) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander delivered his fifth quality start of the year, and his third in four May outings, on 92 pitches (62 strikes). King has had trouble maintaining consistency as he adjusts to being a full-time starting pitcher, but his 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 25 innings this month is encouraging. He'll look to put together another solid start in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Marlins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 am

    • Homers in third straight
McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland.

Advice: McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run, and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. McMahon has also hit safely in 10 straight games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:29 am

    • Christian Walker homers in win over Dodgers
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Elieser Hernández to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead. He later doubled in the eighth and scored on a passed ball. The 33-year-old first baseman is pacing right in line with his 2023 season, hitting .257/.358/.458 with 10 homers and 32 RBI across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:02 pm

    • Ryan McMahon blasts go-ahead homer in Oakland
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer to lift the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: McMahon had knocked a single in the ninth, then came through in a big spot in the 12th inning. With a runner on in a tie game, he took Kyle Muller deep for a go-ahead two-run blast. The 29-year-old third baseman is hitting an outstanding .306/.383/.508 with nine homers and 29 RBI across 211 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:57 pm

    • Allows five runs in loss
Steele (0-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Steele made short work of the first six batters he faced in the contest before giving up a leadoff single to Michael Harris to open the third, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Adam Duvall. The lefty then appeared to settle in over the next three frames, but again found himself in trouble after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the seventh. He would end up being charged with another three runs in the inning, with two coming home after he was relieved by Jose Cuas. Steele has now given up four or more runs in three consecutive starts and is still looking for his first win of the season. On a positive note, Wednesday also marked the first time this season in which he's gotten through six innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:15 pm

    • Homers in Wednesday's win
Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Rays.

Advice: Abreu delivered the final scoring play for the Red Sox in this contest when he took Rays reliever Kevin Kelly deep in the sixth inning. Over the last four games, Abreu has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with five RBI and three extra-base hits. The 24-year-old outfielder continues to play well in a strong-side platoon role, slashing .275/.357/.486 with five homers, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 157 plate appearances this season. • Justin Steele surrenders five runs to Braves in loss
Justin Steele allowed five runs with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Steele had retired the first six batters before Michael Harris II led off the third inning with a base hit. Adam Duvall followed with a two-run homer to put the Braves on the board. Steele pitched into the seventh, leaving at 93 pitches with a run in, two runners on, and one out. Both inherited runners would come in to score. He struck out five on the day. The 28-year-old left-hander will take a 5.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 23/6 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings into a start against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:05 pm

    • Wilyer Abreu homers in win
Wilyer Abreu went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, single, and walk in the Red Sox 8-5 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: Abreu scalded his home run at 107.1 MPH and has left very little doubt this season that he can hit right-handed pitchers. He’s been in the lineup against every righty since April 9th while facing just three lefties over the same span. He’s a great asset in daily leagues where you can mix and match him the same way the Red Sox do. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:44 pm
