    • Not close to returning
Muncy (oblique) is at least a week away from swinging a bat and doesn't have a timeline for return, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Muncy's recovery from a right oblique strain has been unexpectedly slow, and he doesn't seem particularly close to returning. The 33-year-old hasn't swung a bat in a few weeks and won't be cleared for swings for at least another week, all but ruling out a June return. Recently acquired Cavan Biggio and Enrique Hernandez should handle most of the work at third base until Muncy returns. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

    • Lane Thomas goes yard in win over Marlins
Lane Thomas went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Thomas doubled in the first inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Joey Meneses to put the Nationals on the board. He then launched a solo homer in the third, his second straight day going yard. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .238/.300/.388 with six homers, 22 RBI, and 16 steals across 180 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 3:20 pm

    • On bench Saturday
Smith is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Smith will give way to Austin Barnes behind the dish for the second time in three days, with Barnes batting ninth Saturday. In 256 plate appearances, Smith owns a .848 OPS with 10 homers and a 16.0 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm

    • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) sprinting at full speed
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters on Saturday that Wilyer Abreu (ankle) is now sprinting at full speed.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for a minor league rehab assignment early next week, and should only need a couple of games to get his timing back before he’s ready to rejoin the Red Sox’ lineup. Before landing on the injured list in early June, Abreu had been hitting .272/.344/.485 with six homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 189 plate appearances. • Trea Turner (hamstring) might return on Sunday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Trea Turner (hamstring) could potentially return on Sunday.

Advice: Turner continued running at full-speed on Saturday and could potentially be activated for Sunday’s series finale against the Orioles. It’s possible they’ll elect to wait until Monday’s series opener against the Padres, but it certainly appears that the 30-year-old superstar shortstop isn’t far off from returning for Philadelphia. • Adds steal Friday
Gimenez went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Gimenez has two steals over his last three games, giving him 11 thefts on the year. The second baseman has struggled at the plate in June, batting .206 (7-for-34) over eight contests, but he continues to see a starting role even after a recent run of the Guardians facing four left-handed starters in a six-game span. For the season, Gimenez is slashing .266/.320/.363 with four home runs, 35 RBI, 35 runs scored, 10 doubles and one triple. Rotowire.com Today, 10:15 am

    • Laces triple in loss
Rooker went 1-for-5 with an RBI triple in an extra-inning loss to the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Rooker's seventh-inning three-bagger plated JJ Bleday to snap a 4-4 tie, giving the Athletics a temporary reprieve after they'd blown an early 4-0 lead. The triple was Rooker's second of the season -- a new career high -- and marked his first extra-base hit since June 4. The veteran outfielder has now hit safely in five of his last seven games, but he's also carrying a .172 average and 43.3 percent strikeout rate across the 30 plate appearances he's logged in that span. • Bright spot in loss
Kelly struck out three over two hitless and scoreless innings in Friday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Kelly was the one of the good things to come out of Friday's loss. He's a pitcher that manager Alex Cora can rely on in multiple situations. "He can go multiple innings, and I think he starts with strike throwing," Cora told Sarah Barber of The Boston Globe. "Strike throwing, I think that's the most important thing." Since his return from Triple-A Worcester, the right-hander has allowed one run, no hits and three walks while striking out 10. Walks could be an issue. Although he's been better in that regard since his return, Kelly has walked 5.1 batters per nine innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am
    • Takes eighth loss
Heaney (2-8) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Heaney gave up a two-run home run to Mitch Garver in the first inning, his fifth homer allowed over his last seven appearances. This was the shortest of Heaney's three starts in June so far. The veteran southpaw is at a 4.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 62:18 K:BB through 66.2 innings across 14 appearances (13 starts) this season. It's unclear how he'll be utilized going forward -- he may lose his place in the rotation soon since Jon Gray returned from a groin injury last weekend and Max Scherzer (back/arm) could be back by the end of the month. Jose Urena, who pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of relief Friday, could also be a short-term option in the rotation if the Rangers grow tired of Heaney's inconsistency. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:44 pm
