    • James McArthur blows save in ninth, loses in 10th
      James McArthur took a blown save and a loss after allowing two runs — one earned — between the ninth and 10th innings Sunday against the Rangers.

      Advice: McArthur blew the save by giving up a game-tying homer to Jonah Heim in the ninth. In spite of that, the Royals stuck with him in the 10th. He allowed only the automatic runner to score, but the Royals couldn’t let him off the hook from there. It’s not the kind of outing that will reflect particularly badly on him.       McArthur (1-1) blew a save and picked up the loss after he pitched two innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning defeat to the Rangers.

      Advice: McArthur entered the game with the Royals up 2-1 in the top of the ninth inning and gave up a game-tying solo home run to Jonah Heim with one out in the inning. He later returned for the top of the 10th frame, allowing the inherited runner to score on an RBI single by Nathaniel Lowe. The blown save was McArthur's second in nine total save opportunities this season, and he currently possesses a 2.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 15.2 innings in 13 appearances this season.       King (3-3) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday, allowing six hits over six shutout innings while striking out three.

      Advice: King surrendered hits to three of the first four batters he faced in the contest but was able to work his way out of it before retiring the next 11 batters in succession. The right-hander didn't issue a walk for the first time this season, though his three strikeouts on the night also marked a season low. King had allowed at least four runs in back-to-back starts coming in and in three of his last four overall, taking three consecutive losses over that stretch.     • Michael King fires six scoreless in win Saturday
      Michael King was outstanding in Saturday night’s victory over the Diamondbacks, scattering six hits over six innings of scoreless baseball.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander struck out three batters on the evening and didn’t issue a free pass. All six hits that he allowed in the ballgame were singles, and the Diamondbacks never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him. He got six swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 23 percent. For the season, he now holds a 4.29 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 43/21 K/BB ratio over 42 innings in his first eight appearances (seven starts).       Helsley tossed a perfect inning to earn a save over the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Helsely retired the 2-3-4 hitters in the White Sox lineup on just eight pitches to secure the 3-0 win. Since blowing a save chance in his season debut, Helsley has converted 11 consecutive opportunities while allowing one earned run over 16 innings.       Ryan Helsley picked up a save Friday against the White Sox without allowing a run in his inning of work.

      Advice: Helsley didn’t give up a hit, didn’t give up a walk, and didn’t pick up a strikeout. The right-hander needed just eight pitches — seven of those strikes — against a Chicago team that looked like it wanted to be anywhere else.
