• Sitting Sunday
Lowe (toe) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe will sit for the series finale Sunday after sustaining a broken pinky toe on a hit-by-pitch in the first inning of Saturday's 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. Lowe isn't expected to be placed on the IL and will be available to pinch hit Sunday, per Topkin. Richie Palacios will start at second base Sunday and bat fifth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 am

  • Brandon Lowe sitting out Sunday with fractured toe
Brandon Lowe is not in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates.

Advice: The positive news here is that Lowe hasn’t been placed on the injured list yet after suffering a fractured right pinky toe during Saturday’s game when he was hit by a pitch. The 29-year-old second baseman is day-to-day for now. There should be some clarity on his status in a couple days, if not sooner, depending on whether he’s feeling well enough to return. • Placed on injured list
The Marlins placed Garrett on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a left forearm flexor strain.

Advice: The Marlins announced Saturday that Garrett wouldn't start as scheduled Sunday against the Mariners after he reported soreness in his left elbow. After further examination, the team has uncovered a strain in his left forearm, which will cause him to miss a few extra turns through the rotation. Kyle Tyler was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move to start Sunday's contest. Rotowire.com Today, 8:26 am

  • Demolishes 23rd homer
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Angels while also drawing a walk.

Advice: Ohtani jumped on a hanging slider from Zach Plesac in the third inning and launched it 459 feet into the stands in right-center field for his 23rd home run of the season. The superstar slugger has now homered in three consecutive games and has collected at least one RBI in seven straight. Over that latter stretch he's batting .481 (13-for-27) with six homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 8:15 am

  • Braxton Garrett to IL with flexor tendon strain
Marlins placed LHP Braxton Garrett on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm flexor tendon strain.

Advice: The hits just keep on coming to Miami’s injury-ravaged starting rotation with Garrett becoming the latest to fall victim to the injury bug. The major concern here is that forearm flexor tendon strains are often a precursor to more significant elbow issues, which could wind up leading to surgery. The 26-year-old southpaw will presumably undergo a battery of tests to determine the severity of the issue after experiencing elbow discomfort earlier this week. Barring an unexpected development, fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him returning anytime soon. Rotoworld Today, 8:13 am

  • Sitting vs. lefty Sunday
Yoshida is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Reds.

Advice: With Cincinnati sending southpaw Nick Lodolo to the mound Sunday, the lefty-hitting Yoshida will begin the game in the dugout. He went 0-for-8 over the first two games of the series, and since returning from a thumb injury June 11, he's gone 4-for-34 with one RBI. Rob Refsnyder will serve as the designated hitter Sunday and bat second. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am
  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. returns to lineup on Sunday
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (elbow) has returned to the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: Gurriel is back in Arizona’s lineup to face Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sánchez during Sunday’s series finale following a brief one-game absence due to left elbow soreness. It’s a positive sign that he’s ready to return so quickly and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a lingering issue moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 7:02 am
  • Back in lineup Sunday
Gurriel (elbow) is starting in left field and batting third in Sunday's series finale against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports..

Advice: Gurriel returns to the lineup Sunday after sitting out of Saturday's 12-1 loss to Philadelphia. He left in the seventh inning of Friday's contest with left elbow soreness, but the injury wasn't severe enough to warrant an X-ray. For the month of June, Gurriel is slashing .333/.352/.536 with four home runs and 12 RBI over 69 at-bats. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am
  • Shohei Ohtani homers again, Dodgers crush Angels
Shohei Ohtani homered for the second consecutive contest against his former team during Saturday’s Freeway Series finale, leading the Dodgers to a commanding 7-2 victory over the Angels.

Advice: Ohtani connected for his 23rd round-tripper of the season in the fourth inning of Saturday’s Freeway Series finale against his former organization, launching a gargantuan 459-foot two-run moonshot to right-center field off Angels starter Zach Plesac as part of the Dodgers’ four-run explosion in the frame. The 29-year-old fantasy superstar homered in both games of the two-game set at Dodger Stadium and has gone deep a staggering six times over his last seven contests since June 16. Unreal.
