    Advice: We’re used to seeing those type of efforts from Ohtani being wasted, but usually it was for the Angels, not against them. The 29-year-old absolutely destroyed a solo blast off Matt Moore in the fifth for his 22nd homer of the year and 55th RBI of the season.     Jhoan Duran blew a save while allowing two runs and also picked up a loss to the A’s on Friday.

    Advice: Duran has lost three games in 2024, but this was technically his first blown save of the year. The right-hander came in during the eighth, but gave up a hit to Daz Cameron and then a two-run blast to Shea Langeliers.     Tovar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Washington.

    Advice: Tovar was stuck in a small 1-for-18 slump over his previous five games before Friday's strong performance. He put the Rockies on the board with a solo shot in the third inning, giving him 12 this year and four in his last 13 contests.     Ezequiel Tovar homered while going 3-for-5 in a loss Friday to the Nationals.

    Advice: The Rockies were able to pick up three homers off DJ Herz, and Tovar hit a solo shot off Herz in the third for his 12th homer of the year. The 22-year-old shortstop has put together a very strong first half of 2024 in his second full season with a .280 average, 799 OPS and 36 RBI.   • Marcus Semien plates three runs to lead Rangers
    Marcus Semien delivered a bases-clearing three-run double in the sixth inning on Friday night, propelling the Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Royals.

    Advice: The Rangers had just taken the lead as Jonah Heim plated a run with a fielder’s choice. Semien then followed by smacking a two-out, three-run double off of Sammy Long to break the game wide open. It was the only hit of the game in four at-bats for Semien, but it proved to be the difference-maker.     Gurriel did not require an X-ray on his elbow following Friday's game against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

    Advice: Gurriel appeared to suffer the injury during an at-bat in the seventh inning, though manager Torey Lovullo said after the game that he doesn't anticipate that a stint on the injured list will be required.
