• Lasts just four innings Wednesday
Pepiot (4-5) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in four innings. He did not strike out a batter.

Advice: Pepiot made it through the first two innings unscathed, but the Royals got to him for two runs in the third on a couple of hits. He made quick work in the fourth but was replaced after throwing 87 pitches. The Rays offense mustered up just two runs, leaving Pepiot in line for the loss. His last win came back on June 4 against Miami. Pepiot also has never had less than two strikeouts, starting or relieving in any MLB game before having zero Wednesday. It was another short start for the 26-year-old, who hasn't reached six innings in each of his last four starts. Pepiot will take a 4.40 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 83:28 K:BB (75.2 IP) into a start against the Yankees next week. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Clubs fourth homer
Moreno went 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Moreno doubled in his first at-bat before adding a two-run shot in the third to tie the game at 4-4. The catcher went on to reach three times in the contest and has now hit safely in each of his first two games since returning from the injured list (thumb). It marked Moreno's third three-hit performance of the campaign and he's now homered in two of his last three games (dating back to June 21). Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
  • Two weeks out from rehab assignment
Casas (ribs) is likely two weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The two-week estimate for the beginning of a rehab assignment pushes Casas' targeted return date to later in July. He's progressed to taking dry swings in the batting cage, having done so June 26 and again July 3. He's also tracked pitches against the Trajekt machine, which mimics MLB pitchers. The next big step for Casas will be hitting the ball in on-field batting practice. Rotowire.com Today, 5:32 am

  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. slugs three-run homer in victory
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. put the Diamondbacks on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first inning to bring home the first run. He later slugged a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the lead. Gurriel Jr. then doubled in the eighth and scored on a double by Eugenio Suárez. The 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .268/.301/.430 with 12 homers and 51 RBI across 339 plate appearances. • Christian Yelich homers in win over Rockies
Christian Yelich went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk to power the Brewers to a 3-0 win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Yelich put the Brewers on the board early with a solo homer off Dakota Hudson in the first inning. He added a double in the third, then drew a walk in the fifth. The 32-year-old outfielder is in the middle of his best season since 2019, slashing .333/.408/.519 with nine homers, 37 runs scored, 37 RBI, and 19 steals across 263 plate appearances. • Ryan Pepiot all over the place against Royals
Ryan Pepiot labored through four innings on Wednesday against the Royals. He allowed four hits and three walks without striking out a batter in a no-decision.

Advice: Pepiot could not place his fastball in this one. Too many were in the heart of the zone and so many more were way off the plate. Of the 43 pitches he threw, the Royals swung-and-missed at just one and took only four called strikes. That’s untenable for a pitch he threw 49% of the time. Without it working, he kept falling behind and had to grind through difficult innings. Things will not get easier in his next scheduled start against the Yankees. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:12 pm

  • Masataka Yoshida plates two in win over Marlins
Masataka Yoshida went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday, powering the sizzling-hot Red Sox to a 7-2 blowout win over the Marlins.

Advice: Yoshida followed up a two-hit performance during Tuesday’s series opener at loanDepot park with a go-ahead run-scoring single in the third inning before tacking on a pivotal insurance run with a seventh-inning ground out. He also walked and scored a run in the ninth inning. The 30-year-old designated hitter, who missed a significant portion of the first half due to a thumb injury, has been scorching-hot at the dish recently, batting .440 (11-for-25) with four RBI over his last seven games.
