• Mariners activate Jorge Polanco from IL
Mariners activated Jorge Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day IL.

Advice: Polanco has not been off to a good start in 2024, hitting just .195/.293/.302 this season. He will seemingly replace Ryan Bliss at second base even though Bliss is hitting .295/.354/.477 in 18 games in June with one home run and four RBI. Perhaps Polanco won’t have a long leash, but it seems like he’ll be back in the starting lineup this week. Tyler Locklear was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move. • Reinstated from injured list
The Mariners activated Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Polanco was sidelined for just under a month with a right hamstring strain. He went 6-for-20 in six games between High-A Everett and Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment, slugging three home runs over his final two contests. Polanco has slashed a disappointing .195/.293/.302 across 181 plate appearances for Seattle this season. He'll resume his role as the club's everyday second baseman. • Picks up fifth steal
Gorman went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.

Advice: Gorman got aboard on a fielder's choice and picked up a steal for the second game in a row. The second baseman has gone 0-for-9 with a hit-by-pitch and two sacrifice flies over his last three contests. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, batting a poor .078 (5-for-64) in that span, though two of those hits have been homers. The slump has him down to a .194/.272/.421 slash line with 16 home runs, 36 RBI, five steals and 31 runs scored across 70 contests. Gorman's struggled to hit for average over his three years in the majors, and a career-worst 35.9 percent strikeout rate isn't doing him any favors in 2024. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:33 pm

  • Goes deep again Sunday
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Guerrero launched a two-run home run in the top of first inning off Triston McKenzie, giving Toronto an early lead. He later singled and came around to score on a base knock by Addison Barger in the top of the fifth. The homer was his ninth of the season and second of the three-game series with Cleveland. Guerrero has now notched at least one hit in six of his last eight contests, batting .294 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored over that stretch. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:00 pm
  • Big effort in rout
Keith went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, three total runs scored and three RBI in Sunday's 11-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Keith got the scoring started with a two-run home run, his fourth of the season, in the first inning and proceeded to record his third four-hit effort of the year. The youngster is riding a five-game hitting streak and is batting .258 this month. Keith is now batting .243 overall and is trending in the right direction after a slow start to his rookie campaign. • Colt Keith falls triple short of the cycle
Colt Keith went 4-for-5 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored in a, 11-2 win over the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: The Tigers, led by Keith, teed off against the White Sox. Eight of their nine starters had a hit and they had nine runs by the end of the second inning. Keith had a chance to hit the first cycle by a Tiger since Carlos Guillén in 2006 and the team has shown increased confidence in the youngster by moving him up to second in their order this week. • Belts two-run blast
Steer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to Boston on Saturday.

Advice: Steer gave the Reds an early lead with his two-run shot to left field in the first inning. It was his ninth long ball of the season and his third through 19 contests in June. Steer is slashing .234/.326/.401 with 45 RBI, 33 runs and 12 stolen bases on the campaign. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:09 pm

  • Provides only offense Friday
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Guardians.

Advice: The first baseman took Carlos Carrasco deep in the fourth inning, but it was all the offense the Blue Jays could muster in a 7-1 loss. Guerrero hadn't gone yard since June 6, and while he continues to scald the ball -- he's in the 99th percentile in average exit velocity and hard-hit rate -- a 5.9 degree average launch angle is costing him power. On the season, he's batting .281 with a career-low .406 SLG, eight homers and 31 RBI in 75 games. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:56 am
  • Swats two homers in rehab game
Polanco (hamstring) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Las Vegas on Friday, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and another RBI from a bases-loaded walk.

Advice: Polanco may have put the bow on a highly successful rehab assignment with Friday's performance. Not only were the offensive fireworks a welcome sight for a player who's struggled all season at the big-league level, but Polanco was also able to put in a full game on defense for the first time during his rehab stint. It would seem highly likely the Mariners will deem him ready for activation at this point, but they may opt to have Polanco finish out the weekend with the Rainiers before potentially meeting the club in Tampa Bay for the start of a three-game series against the Rays on Monday.
