• Returns to starting nine
Steer (ankle) will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Steer didn't start in either of the last two games while managing a sore ankle, though he felt well enough to make a pinch-hitting appearance in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers. Monday's team off day plus an absence from the lineup in Tuesday's 2-0 win over San Diego appears to have provided sufficient time for Steer to move past the ankle issue. He'll likely continue to see the bulk of his starts at first base rather than in the corner outfield for the duration of Christian Encarnacion-Strand's (wrist) stint on the injured list. • Sitting against left-hander
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Gorman clubbed a tie-breaking, two-run home run earlier Wednesday in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game, but he will take a seat versus left-hander John Means for the regularly scheduled contest. Brendan Donovan will replace Gorman at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 am

  • Nolan Gorman homers to lead Cardinals past Orioles
Nolan Gorman hit a two-run homer after play resumed Wednesday as the Cardinals beat the Orioles 3-1 in Tuesday’s suspended game.

Advice: Gorman also doubled in the Cardinals’ lone run before play was halted in a 1-1 game last night. The homer today came immediately came right after play resumed in the bottom of the sixth and made a winner of Lance Lynn, who pitched six innings of one-run ball last night. Gorman has four homers and 10 RBI in his last 11 games. His OPS has jumped from .575 to .724 during that span, and he should probably be picked up in leagues in which he was dropped. • Out again Tuesday
Steer (ankle) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Steer was held out of Sunday's game with an ankle injury and remains out of action after Monday's off day. The good news is Steer said Tuesday that he's feeling better and expects to be available off the bench, just as he was Sunday when he served in a pinch-hit capacity, per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer. • Has ankle injury
Steer is dealing with a sore ankle, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Steer was held out of the starting lineup Sunday as a result of the ankle but served as a pinch hitter. He walked for Will Benson with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and was removed for a pinch runner. Cincinnati manager David Bell said Steer should be back to 100 percent for Tuesday's series opener at home against the Padres. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:11 am

  • Taking seat Sunday
Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Steer is mired in an 0-for-16 slump and will head to the bench Sunday. Will Benson will shift to left field for the series finale in Los Angeles while Stuart Fairchild and Jake Fraley start in center and right, respectively. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:46 am

  • Spencer Steer out of lineup Sunday vs. Dodgers
Spencer Steer is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Dodgers.

Advice: Steer has struggled mightily as of late, and the 26-year-old will get a day to think about things against Landon Knack and the Dodgers. Santiago Espinal is starting at third base with Jeimer Candelario moving across the diamond to first. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:29 am

  • Heads to bench Sunday
Gorman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Gorman has homered in back-to-back games, but the strikeouts are piling up. He's struck out 10 times in his last 16 at-bats, bringing his K-rate to 35 percent through 157 plate appearances this season. Brendan Donovan will start at second base Sunday as Alec Burleson takes over in left field and Matt Carpenter starts at DH. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:34 am
