• Snaps homer drought
Taveras went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-3 win against the Mets.

Advice: Taveras began the game on the bench before being called upon to play center field in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of that frame, Taveras produced the game-winning runs when he smashed a two-run homer to right-center field. The long ball snapped a 22-game homerless stretch for the outfielder, who hit a meager .147 during that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm

  • Remains perfect in save conversions
Yates earned a save against the Mets on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Yates protected a two-run Texas lead in the top of the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on 16 pitches. The veteran reliever is a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season -- no closer in baseball has converted more saves without blowing any opportunities. Yates hasn't given up more than one run in any of his 26 appearances, leading to a superb 1.03 ERA. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:28 pm
  • Tosses six strong innings
Bradley allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over six innings in a no-decision against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Advice: Bradley didn't have his best strikeout stuff -- his three punchouts tied a season-low mark and were a far cry from the 11 strikeouts he notched his previous time on the mound -- but he nonetheless managed his second straight quality start. The right-hander has rebounded well from a 3.1-inning, nine-run shellacking at the hands of the Orioles on June 1, yielding just three runs over 18 frames across his subsequent three starts. Bradley has recorded a 4.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB overall across 44.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:39 pm

  • Taj Bradley delivers quality start against Twins
Taj Bradley delivered a quality start in a no-decision against the Twins on Wednesday night, allowing just two runs on seven hits over six strong frames.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander punched out three batters in the ballgame while issuing a pair of free passes. The Twins threatened in the third inning and pushed a run across as Trevor Larnach grounded into a double play. They tacked on another run in the sixth inning as Royce Lewis belted a solo home run. Bradley got nine whiffs on 104 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of only 21 percent. He’ll carry a 4.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 53/14 K/BB ratio (44 1/3 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Mariners. • Leody Taveras plays hero with pinch-hit home run
Leody Taveras went 1-for-1 with a go-ahead two-run homer in the Rangers’ 5-3 win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Taveras was given the night off Wednesday marred in a 3-for-53 slump since the start of June, but won the game for the Rangers with his home run. He’s still a regular in the lineup because of his defense despite a miserable season at the plate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:54 pm

  • Kirby Yates secures 11th save
Kirby Yates pitched a clean ninth inning with a strike out in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Yates worked a pain-free ninth after struggling on Tuesday against this same Mets lineup in a tie game. He’s been one of the best closers in the league since earning the role in April with a sterling 1.03 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm
  • Bypassed in save opportunity
Neris was not used to close out Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Giants, with Colten Brewer getting the save instead.

Advice: Neris took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) in an inning of work, and he's allowed a total of seven earned runs over his last three outings. The veteran's ERA has climbed to 4.73 as a result of his recent struggles, and he's blown four saves this year in 14 chances. Chicago manager Craig Counsell said following Monday's game that he didn't plan on making a change at closer, according to James Neveau of Yahoo Sports, but this situation could be fluid. Brewer is at least worth keeping an eye on in the short term. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:39 pm
  • Homers Wednesday
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Gorman led off the second inning with a 436-foot blast off Yonny Chirinos, cutting St. Louis' deficit to 2-1. It's the first homer in seven games for Gorman, who'd gone just 1-for-28 in that span. Overall, the 24-year-old second baseman is slashing .202/.278/.437 with 16 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and three steals across 67 games this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm

  • Nolan Jones scratched due to illness on Wednesday
Nolan Jones was scratched from the Rockies’ starting lineup on Wednesday night due to illness.

Advice: Fortunately, he’s not dealing with any serious ailments and should be able to return to action in a day or two. Sean Bouchard will start in his place in left field and will bat sixth for the Rockies against Bobby Miller and the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:27 pm
