• Rehab start Wednesday
Senga (shoulder/triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Senga is slated to throw about 40 pitches in his first game appearance since he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain back in February. The right-hander will require multiple rehab outings before rejoining the Mets' rotation, but he should be able to make it back before the end of July if all goes well. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Kodai Senga (shoulder) set for rehab start
Kodai Senga, out since the beginning of the year with a shoulder injury, will make his first rehab start Wednesday with Single-A Brooklyn.

Advice: He’s due to throw 40 pitches his first time out. The Mets haven’t announced a plan beyond that, but if all goes well, four rehab starts and return to the Mets rotation during the final week of July would seem to be a possibility. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Vlad Jr. (finger) scratched from Monday’s lineup
Blue Jays removed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (finger) from the starting lineup on Monday.

Advice: Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch in the hand yesterday and seemed confident he’d be able to play, but the Blue Jays are pulling him from the lineup with “Right 4th/5th finger discomfort.” It’s likely that his hand just didn’t feel up to the task after batting practice, but it doesn’t seem like a situation that will keep him out too long. Spencer Horwitz will play first base in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 12:48 pm

  • Scratched from lineup
Guerrero was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros due to right fourth/fifth finger discomfort, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees and was ultimately removed from the contest in the bottom of the eighth. While he was initially slated to play Monday in the series opener versus the Astros, some lingering soreness will ultimately prevent him from doing so. X-rays on the hand returned negative, and Guerrero is considered day-to-day. Ernie Clement will enter the lineup as a replacement for Guerrero, manning third base and batting ninth. • Contributes RBI, steal in loss
Polanco went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Polanco came through with a clutch knock against his former team in the seventh inning, plating Luke Raley to knot the score at 3-3. The veteran infielder, who's now hit safely in four straight, also added his second steal of the campaign, but he couldn't capitalize on another RBI opportunity in the ninth when he left the bases loaded on a game-ending flyout. • Davis Schneider is starting in LF on Monday
Davis Schneider is starting in left field for the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: Despite Schneider not being a full-time player, this will be his fourth start in the team’s last six games. However, he is coming off a rough month of June in which he hit .163/.227/.300 in 26 games with a 28.4 percent strikeout rate to go along with three home runs. He no longer needs to be held on fantasy rosters outside of the deepest formats. Rotoworld Today, 8:37 am

  • Cleared for Canada Day start
Guerrero (hand) will start at first base and bat third in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning of Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees, but he proceeded to stay in the game until he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth. X-rays on Guerrero's hand came back negative, and his removal from the contest might just have been precautionary while the Blue Jays faced a seven-run deficit at the time of his exit. Even with a quick turnaround for Monday's Canada Day game that begins at 3:07 p.m. ET, the Blue Jays evidently felt comfortable enough with Guerrero's health to insert him back in the lineup. • Justin Verlander has started playing catch
Astros general manager Dana Brown said Justin Verlander (neck) has resumed playing catch.

Advice: The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with a neck issue, and the Astros have been tight-lipped about his recovery. According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, “Verlander has deferred all questions to the team, which remains insistent this injury is just a neck issue,” but the team has said that he’ll need a prolonged buildup and then at least one rehab start, which means a return before the All-Star break feels unlikely. • Re-entering rotation Wednesday
Jones is listed as the Pirates' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals at PNC Park.

Advice: Jones will slot back into the rotation for the first time since June 22 after the Pirates opted to skip his turn this past week. The decision to bypass Jones' turn wasn't based on any injury; instead, the Pirates are cognizant of keeping the 23-year-old right-hander's workload in check during his first season in the majors. The Pirates haven't offered up a firm innings limit for Jones in 2024 nor outlined their plans on when/if he might be skipped again, but fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to keep him active when he's confirmed to start. Though he's had more trouble keeping walks in check in his recent starts compared to earlier in the campaign, Jones will still head into his 16th start of the season Wednesday with stellar ratios (3.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 19.4 K-BB%).
