• Astros place Chas McCormick on 10-day IL
Astros placed OF Chas McCormick on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 28, with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Astros’ manager Joe Espada had mentioned earlier in the day that McCormick may need a stint on the injured list, and after attempting to go through a pregame workout on Wednesday the determination was made. Jacob Amaya was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • Kyle Schwarber’s two-run single enough vs. Halos
Kyle Schwarber smacked a two-run single on Wednesday, lifting the Phillies to a 2-1 victory over the Angels.

Advice: Schwarber’s second-inning two-run single off Angels southpaw Patrick Sandoval represented Philadelphia’s only offensive production of a low-scoring contest out in Los Angeles. It wound up being enough as Zack Wheeler and a quartet of relievers managed to limit the Angels to just one run on 10 hits. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Placed on injured list
The Red Sox placed Yoshida on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left thumb strain, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: MRI results revealed a strain in Yoshida's left thumb after he jammed his hand during Sunday's game against the Cubs, and there is no telling whether or not the 30-year-old outfielder will be able to return when eligible May 10. The newly-signed Dominic Smith will take Yoshida's place on the active roster. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Spencer Steer snaps homerless streak Wednesday
Spencer Steer clobbered a solo homer on Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to the Padres.

Advice: Steer kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to left-center field -- his fourth round-tripper of the season -- off Padres starter Joe Musgrove in the opening frame. It was the first time he’s gone deep since April 6, snapping a bizarre 22-game homerless drought. The versatile 26-year-old on-base machine is batting .252/.364/.450 with 18 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and eight stolen bases through 31 contests. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

  • Jurickson Profar tallies four hits in victory
Jurickson Profar went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Reds.

Advice: Profar’s unexpected hot start continues to roll on as his latest four-hit performance raises his batting average to an astronomical .342 mark through 34 contests. He’s only added four homers and one steal, so we’re not forecasting a late-career renaissance for the 31-year-old former top overall prospect, but it’s worth noting that his latest hot streak is probably enough to land him some opportunities in the future to prolong his career. • Takes seat against lefty
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rosario once again finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games while the Nationals face another left-handed starting pitcher (Andrew Heaney). Platoon mate Alex Call gets the start in right field while Rosario takes a seat. Rotowire.com 56 minutes ago

  • First homer with White Sox
Pham went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a solo homer and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to Minnesota.

Advice: Pham opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning before extending Chicago's lead to 3-1 in the third with a home run off Bailey Ober, his first since joining the White Sox this year. The 36-year-old Pham's hit the ground running, going 9-for-24 while recording multiple hits in four of his first six contests. He slashed .256/.328/.446 with 16 homers, 68 RBI and 22 steals in 129 games between the Mets and Diamondbacks last season. Rotowire.com Today, 3:23 pm

  • Astros consider IL stint for McCormick (hamstring)
Astros’ manager Joe Espada admitted Wednesday that they’re considering a stint on the injured list for Chas McCormick (hamstring).

Advice: McCormick is available to pinch-hit on Wednesday, but it sounds like if he doesn’t improve very soon that he’ll wind up on the shelf for a while. Trey Cabbage was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday to add depth to their outfield. Rotoworld Today, 3:10 pm

  • Edward Olivares continues ice-cold stretch in loss
Edward Olivares went 0-for-4 on Wednesday in the Pirates’ shutout loss at the hands of the Athletics.

Advice: Unfortunatley, Olivares has come crashing back to Earth after a sizzling-hot start to the season at the plate, batting just .132 (5-for-38) with zero extra-base hits in 12 games over the last three weeks. It’s not what you want. Rotoworld Today, 3:08 pm
