    • Wraps huge June with three hits
Merrill went 3-for-4 with a double and a run in Sunday's loss to Boston.

Advice: Merrill was the only Padre to notch multiple hits in the contest, and he scored the team's only run after belting a one-out double in the seventh inning. The rookie finished June with back-to-back three-hit games, with half of his knocks during the pair of contests going for extra bases. Merrill swung a hot bat for most of the month, and he finished June with a .320/.346/.650 slash line along with nine home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 8:39 am
    • James Wood officially called up by Nats
Nationals recalled OF James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: The move was announced on Friday but is now official. Wood is MLB Pipeline’s 3rd-ranked prospect, behind Jackson Holliday and Junior Caminero, who have both already had a taste of the big leagues. Wood posted a .353/.463/.595 slash line with 10 homers and 10 steals across 52 games this season at Triple-A. Of course, he’s also 21 years old and we saw Holliday struggle against MLB pitching in his first crack at the big leagues, so it’s not a given that Wood will hit the ground running. He will also face three left-handed starters in his first three games which will give fantasy managers and Nationals fans a good chance to see if there will be any platoon issues early on. The Nationals designated Eddie Rosario for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Today, 7:36 am

    • Added to roster ahead of MLB debut
The Nationals selected Wood's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Advice: The top prospect will make his major-league debut Monday against the Mets. Wood earned a promotion after sporting a blistering .353/.463/.595 batting line with 10 home runs, 10 stolen bases and a 42:40 K:BB over 52 games with Rochester. While Wood has experience at all three outfield positions, the Nationals plan to deploy him mainly in left field for the time being. Rotowire.com Today, 6:18 am

    • Hits for cycle in blowout win
Langford hit for the cycle in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Orioles, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Advice: Langford made history with the first cycle of the 2024 MLB season Sunday night. He flew out his first time up and then took off from there, tripling in the fourth and then later completing things with a three-run blast in his final at-bat of the evening in the eighth. Langford is putting together quite the rookie campaign despite the season struggles from the Rangers. He became the first rookie in MLB history with a cycle, a grand slam and an inside-the-park home run in a season. He also became the first Rangers rookie to hit for a cycle since 1985. Langford caps off a productive month of June, during which he slashed .309/.368/.526 with three homers, 22 RBI, 11 runs, six steals and an 8:17 BB:K in 106 plate appearances. • Wyatt Langford hits for cycle in rout of Orioles
Wyatt Langford hit for the cycle and drove in four runs as the Rangers bested the Orioles 11-2 on Sunday.

Advice: Langford had just 14 extra-base hits in 59 games this season before coming up with three tonight. The homer, his fourth, came in his fifth and final at-bat of the night. It caps off a fine June for Langford in which he hit .283/.347/.446 with two homers, 18 RBI and six steals in 25 games. Things will likely only keep getting better from here. • Continues power surge
Merrill went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a double in an 11-1 rout of the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Merrill increased San Diego's lead to 4-0 with a fourth-inning solo blast and capped the scoring in the contest with an RBI double in the eighth. The rookie has homered in back-to-back contests and in half of his past 10 games. Extended further, Merrill's power surge has included nine long balls over his past 16 contests, and he's slashing .333/.365/.817 with 18 RBI and 12 runs during that stretch. • Solo shot in Saturday's loss
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Garcia's blast got the Rangers within a run in the eighth inning, but they failed to tie the game. The outfielder has hit safely in eight of the last nine games, going 10-for-35 (.286) with three homers and four RBI in that span. He's still slashing just .220/.280/.422 on the year with 16 long balls, 44 RBI, 43 runs scored, six stolen bases and 12 doubles across 79 contests. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:21 pm

    • Scores four runs in win
Meyers went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and four total runs scored in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Mets.

Advice: Meyers opened the scoring with his second-inning homer, and he was involved in every other inning in which the Astros scored during their comeback win. The outfielder has gone 10-for-29 (.345) with six extra-base hits over his last nine contests after an 0-for-14 skid in the middle of June. For the year, he's at a .262/.331/.444 slash line with eight homers, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 237 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:05 pm

Advice: Meyers’ home run was his eighth of the season. He started the scoring with a solo shot off Tylor Megill in the second inning and ended up scoring four runs himself in the contest. Meyers is hitting .262 with a .775 OPS and 30 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:51 pm
