    • Poor in no-decision
Cecconi allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: Cecconi pitched six times in June, but he completed five innings just once. While he had just one truly awful start in that span, he allowed a total of 15 runs over 25 innings, albeit with a tantalizing 26:3 K:BB. Cecconi is at a 5.81 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 48:11 K:BB through 57.1 innings over 12 appearances (11 starts). He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Dodgers next week. • Fans seven in no-decision
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Friday's 7-2 win over the Astros, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The southpaw tossed an inefficient 93 pitches (54 strikes) before getting the hook after allowing a leadoff single to Yordan Alvarez in the fifth inning. Quintana has failed to pitch more than four innings in three of his last five outings, but he hasn't given up more than three runs in eight straight, posting a 3.70 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB in 41.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to give the Mets more length in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 pm
    • Strikes out seven
Knack allowed a run on five hits and struck out seven without walking a batter over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Knack was pulled at 76 pitches (49 strikes) after giving up a solo home run to Luis Matos and singles to Brett Wisely and Jorge Soler in the fifth inning. While Knack wouldn't have qualified for the win, it was still a positive showing despite it being tied for his shortest start of the season in the majors. The right-hander has maintained a 2.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB through 30.1 innings over six starts. It looks like he's good for at least a short-term stay in the rotation, which lines him up for a home start versus the Diamondbacks next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:20 pm
    • Slade Cecconi gives up three over four vs. A’s
Slade Cecconi gave up three runs in four innings with seven strikeouts against the A’s on Friday while picking up no decision.

Advice: Cecconi was able to strike out seven, but it’s another mediocre outing in a year where the 25-year-old has had plenty of them. The 25-year-old allowed two runs in the third and another in the fourth before being pulled, and Cecconi’s ERA is now at 5.81 for the season. He absolutely should not be considered as a streaming option for Thursday’s scheduled bout against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:19 pm
    • Knack strikes out seven over 4 2/3 in no-decision
Landon Knack didn’t factor into the decision despite allowing just one run over 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts against the Giants on Friday.

Advice: It was another strong outing for Knack, but the Dodgers pulled the right-hander after he gave up a solo homer in the fifth to Luis Matos. The right-hander allowed four other hits — five total — while not issuing a walk. Lack has given up just one earned run over his two starts since being called up, and his ERA as a member of the Dodgers in 2024 is a strong 2.08. His next outing hasn’t been announced, but there’s a very good chance he starts Thursday against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:11 pm
    • Starting Saturday
Miller will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The Giants will use their bullpen to get them through Saturday's contest, and Miller will serve as the opener for the eighth time this season. The 26-year-old owns a 3.79 ERA and 1.21 WHIP through 38 innings on the year, though he's given up just one earned run in 7.2 frames during games that he's opened. • Michael Kopech earns second save in two days
Michael Kopech pitched a hitless ninth inning against the Rockies for his seventh save Friday.

Advice: Kopech has saves on back-to-back days after going nearly six weeks without one. It’s good to see, but it does mean he’ll be of Saturday, perhaps creating a save opportunity for Steven Wilson. John Brebbia has also pitched back-to-back days, so he probably won’t be an option. • Dakota Hudson gives up five runs to White Sox
Dakota Hudson yielded five runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Pitching on the road against the White Sox is pretty much the easiest assignment Hudson is going to get as a member of the Rockies, but he messed it up by walking five and hitting a batter. He’s now 2-11 with a 5.84 ERA, and the Rockies might weigh moving on from him after the break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:35 pm

    • Struggles with command
Plesac yielded two runs on a hit and four walks over 2.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the win over Detroit.

Advice: Plesac retired eight straight batters to begin the game before unraveling in the third inning. With two outs in the frame, he put five straight runners on base and walked in a pair of runs. He posted a quality start in his season debut but has been tagged with eight runs in six frames over his last two outings, shooting his season ERA up to 8.25. As things stand, Plesac is lined up to start in Oakland next week, but it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:26 pm
