      Kremer (triceps) may need to make another rehab start this week before being reinstated from the 15-day injured list, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Kremer logged 3.2 innings in his first rehab start June 16 while building up to 59 pitches. He made his second start Saturday with Norfolk but needed 39 pitches to record two outs and was charged with five earned runs on five hits and one walk. Baltimore can go with a five-man rotation this week even without Kremer, and if he is able to go deeper into his third rehab start, he could return from the IL as early as July 2 in Seattle.     • Throws eight shutout innings
      Lopez (7-6) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 14 over eight shutout innings to earn the win Sunday over the Athletics.

      Advice: Lopez retired the first 17 batters he faced before Lawrence Butler's sixth-inning single. This was Lopez's first scoreless outing of the season as well as his longest start, and the 14 strikeouts were a season high. He'd given up 14 runs over 13 innings across his first three starts in June. Even with this gem, Lopez has a 5.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 101:19 K:BB through 88 innings across 16 starts this year. Considering he's posted a career-worst 1.6 HR/9, it's likely a fair amount of his struggles have come from bad luck with the long ball, as the rest of his underlying numbers are in line with his usual level of performance.       Valdez (6-5) allowed a run on six hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win against Baltimore.

      Advice: Valdez rolled through five shutout frames without facing too much trouble before Jordan Westburg belted a solo shot in the sixth inning. The Astros gave Valdez plenty of run support as he halted a brief two-start losing streak. It was the third time this year he's struck out at least seven batters, and each of those outings have come in his last eight starts. He's produced an impressive 2.73 ERA through 33 innings this month, lowering his season mark to 3.68 across 80.2 frames.     • Pablo López strikes out 14 in victory over A’s
      Pablo López delivered his finest start of the season on Sunday, racking up 14 strikeouts over eight innings of shutout baseball in a victory over the Athletics.

      Advice: López allowed just two hits — both of them singles — and one walk on the brilliant afternoon. The 28-year-old hurler bounced back in a huge way after being shelled by the Rays his last time out, looking like the star hurler that we saw dominating on a nightly basis for the Twins during the 2023 campaign. He piled up 19 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the contest — 10 of those on his fastball alone — while posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll see if he can build off of this start and further improve upon his 5.11 ERA and 1.17 WHIP when he takes the mound against the Mariners in Seattle on Saturday. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:18 pm
       
    • Framber Valdez dazzles against Orioles
      Framber Valdez allowed one run on six hits in seven innings in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

      Advice: Valdez struck out seven and walked two on the day. He allowed just one extra-base hit, but it happened to be a solo home run to Jordan Westburg. The left-hander induced 11 whiffs on 45 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW against a really talented offense. That’s now back-to-back really strong starts for Valdez after a rough outing against the Giants. He’ll carry a 3.68 ERA into a plus matchup against the Mets next week.     • Dean Kremer likely to need another rehab start
      Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde admitted Sunday that Dean Kremer (triceps) will likely require another minor league rehab start after he failed to get past the first inning in Saturday’s outing at Triple-A Norfolk.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander got just two outs in Saturday’s start, giving up five runs on five hits and a walk over his 2/3 of an inning. Kremer struck out one batter in the ballgame and surrendered a pair of home runs to Kody Clemens and Weston Wilson. Kremer threw just 39 pitches in the ballgame, 25 of them for strikes. Out of necessity, the Orioles could still decide to bring him back next week, but the most likely scenario is that he winds up making another start at the Triple-A level. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:41 pm

    • Moving back into rotation
      Turnbull is scheduled to join the rotation and start Wednesday against the Tigers in Detroit, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

      Advice: He'll be taking over the rotation spot that previously belonged to Taijuan Walker, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right index finger inflammation after developing what manager Rob Thomson termed as a "hot spot" on his pitching hand. Though an injury of this sort wouldn't seem to portend a lengthy absence for Walker, Turnbull could end up sticking around as the Phillies' No. 5 starter once Walker is healthy, so long as Turnbull comes close to recapturing the excellent form he displayed as a member of the rotation earlier this season. The Phillies have stated that they plan to monitor Turnbull's workload this season after he missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a large portion of 2023 due to neck discomfort, but the 31-year-old right-hander has made it difficult for the club to stick to that plan while he's performed so-so as a reliever (4.26 ERA, 14.1 K-BB% in 10 appearances) but exceptionally in his six starts (1.67 ERA, 20.5 K-BB%). His upcoming start against his former Tigers club will be his first since April 30, but Turnbull worked three scoreless innings (49 pitches) in his most recent relief outing Friday and is being targeted for around 70 pitches Wednesday, per Thomson.       Quantrill did not factor into the decision in a win over the Nationals on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings while striking out five.

      Advice: Most of the damage against Quantrill came in the third when CJ Abrams tagged him for a leadoff double to open the inning before then advancing to third on a balk. The right-hander would go on to surrender two runs in the frame before later giving up a leadoff homer to Abrams in the fifth, though the former was still able to get through six innings for the seventh time in his last 10 starts.     • Cal Quantrill allows three runs in no-decision
      Cal Quantrill gave up three runs over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Nationals.

      Advice: Quantrill surrendered seven hits, including a fifth-inning solo shot to CJ Abrams, but still managed to depart in line for a win before Colorado’s bullpen relinquished the lead. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 29-year-old righty has been an unexpected success story for the Rockies front office this season, delivering a solid 3.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 64/34 K/BB ratio across 90 innings (16 starts). There isn’t a ton of appeal for fantasy managers here outside of deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats, but this season has definitely been a step in the right direction for Quantrill.
