    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Hughes to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Advice: Hughes has given up seven earned runs in 3.2 innings over his last two big-league outings, giving him a 10.13 ERA and 2.25 WHIP on the year. In an effort to get back on track, he'll head back to Reno, where he owns a 1.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 19.2 frames. Joe Jacques was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. • D-backs recall lefty Joe Jacques on Thursday
Diamondbacks recalled LHP Joe Jacques from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Jacques rejoins Arizona’s bullpen ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the Padres with fellow southpaw Blake Walston hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation. The 29-year-old lefty made one relief appearance earlier this season for the Diamondbacks after being claimed off waivers from the Red Sox. He figures to stick around for an extended period. • D-backs option Brandon Hughes back to Triple-A
Diamondbacks optioned LHP Brandon Hughes to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Hughes heads back to the minors amid a flurry of roster moves for Arizona to re-shuffle their bullpen mix. The 28-year-old lefty has struggled this season to a disastrous 10.13 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and 11/6 K/BB ratio across 10 2/3 innings (nine appearances, two starts) in his Arizona debut. • D-backs activate and option Luis Frías to Triple-A
Diamondbacks activated RHP Luis Frías from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Frías will remain stationed in the minors as extra organizational relief depth. The 26-year-old righty has been on the shelf since mod-April recovering from right shoulder inflammation. Rotoworld Today, 3:59 pm
    • Activated, optioned to Reno
The Diamondbacks reinstated Frias (shoulder) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Frias moved his rehab assignment from rookie ball to Triple-A on Tuesday, and he will officially remain with the Aces now that he's made a full recovery from the shoulder inflammation that sent him onto the IL in April. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed seven earned runs in 6.1 innings during his time in the majors before getting injured, and he would likely need to show major improvement at Reno before the D-backs consider bringing him back into their bullpen. • Set for more rehab outings
Gallegos (shoulder) is scheduled to throw in a rehab outing with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday night and will have another on Sunday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: After completing the two rehab appearances, Gallegos's next step will be to throw in back-to-back outings. The righty landed on the 15-day injured list in early May due to a right shoulder impingement. In his first rehab game May 31, he pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. Prior to the injury, the veteran reliever had allowed 12 runs in nine innings and now the Cardinals will look to make sure he is sharp after a handful of rehab outings before being activated. • Playing catch
Manager Brian Snitker said Thursday that Minter (hip) has been playing catch with no issues and will pitch an inning at some point next week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: The team has not yet determined whether or not Minter's next step will come during live batting practice or in a minor-league rehab game. Either way, it seems likely that the 30-year-old southpaw will be able to return to Atlanta's bullpen when eligible June 14. Rotowire.com Today, 2:44 pm

    • D-backs claim Thyago Viera off waivers from O’s
Diamondbacks claimed RHP Thyago Viera off waivers from the Orioles.

Advice: Arizona had an open 40-man roster spot following lefty Andrew Saalfrank’s suspension, so they’ve filled it by picking up Vieira off waivers from Baltimore after he was designated for assignment earlier this week. The hard-throwing 31-year-old righty is on his third organization in less than a month at this point and figures to get a look in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen right away. Rotoworld Today, 2:12 pm
    • Hogan Harris to start Friday against Blue Jays
Hogan Harris will start on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It was originally supposed to Luis Medina drawing the starting assignment for Friday’s series opener, but he’ll get an extra day of rest with Hogan bumping up to take the ball instead. There isn’t a ton of fantasy value to be extracted here, but both Harris and Medina have been pitching well of late, and Toronto’s lineup continues to struggle. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm
