    • Perez has two-hit game in win Thursday
Salvador Perez went 2-for-3 against the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Perez has hit safely in four consecutive games. He’s seen his average drop from .321 at the end of May to .283. The Royals lineup desperately needs his bat to wake up again. This was only his third multi-hit game in June, but maybe it’s the start of a hot streak. Rotoworld Today, 7:44 pm

    • Jake Burger homers, plates two in win over Phillies
Jake Burger went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and two RBI on Thursday in the Marlins’ win over the Phillies.

Advice: Burger clubbed a solo homer -- his seventh long ball of the season -- off Phillies reliever Jeff Hoffman in the eighth inning before adding another insurance run in the ensuing frame with a run-scoring single. Rotoworld Today, 6:27 pm

    • Westburg hits two-run double in route over Rangers
Jordan Westburg went 1-for-4 with a two-run double against the Rangers on Thursday.

Advice: Westburg was thrown out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple, but still drove in two runs to give the Orioles a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The 25-year-old infielder is hitting .286 with an .854 OPS and 48 RBI on the season.

    • Cubs put Javier Assad on IL with forearm strain
Cubs placed RHP Javier Assad on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain.

Advice: Assad struggled on Sunday in a loss to the Mets and also failed to record a single strikeout. Now we might know why. The Cubs haven’t issued a timeline for Assad’s injury, but forearm strains can often be a precursor to bigger injuries, so the team is liable to be careful with the right-hander. We should find out in the coming days just how long Assad will be out and who the Cubs will call up to replace him in the rotation. Rotoworld Today, 10:28 am

    • Hits IL with strained forearm
The Cubs placed Assad on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right forearm extensor strain, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The injury has evidently been an issue for Assad off and on for about two weeks, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune, which could help explain why he's stumbled in June with a 5.49 ERA after entering the month with a 2.27 mark. With Assad slated to miss at least two turns, Hayden Wesneski is likely to remain in the Cubs' rotation for a while. Rotowire.com Today, 10:13 am

    • Making progress in throwing program
Blackburn (foot) threw a bullpen session Tuesday at Angel Stadium and is set to complete another one Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander has been making steady progress over the last week-plus, as he's already thrown two bullpen sessions and has seemingly come away from that activity without setbacks. If Saturday's session also goes off without a hitch, Blackburn could progress to facing hitters as the next step in his recovery. Rotowire.com Today, 9:57 am

    • Double, homer in win
Castro went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona while also being hit by a pitch.

Advice: Castro was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat and responded with a leadoff double on the first pitch in his next trip to the plate, before then coming home on a double from Trevor Larnach. The utility man would add a two-run homer in the fifth to increase Minnesota's lead to seven runs, giving him two homers over his last five games. Castro has also hit safely in nine straight, posting multiple hits in five of those contests. He's batting .405 (15-for-37) over that stretch with eight RBI and nine runs scored. • Lone bright spot in loss
Judge went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Though the Yankees suffered through an ugly loss to their crosstown rival, Judge kept chugging along, smashing a 400-foot, two-run homer in the sixth inning for his team's only runs. The long ball was the slugger's 10th through 21 games in a monstrous June during which he's also produced 32 RBI. Judge is the league leader with 30 home runs on the campaign, and he's just the third player in MLB history to reach 30 homers before the All-Star break three times in his career, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. • Clobbers homer
Lowe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an RBI single during Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers in 10 innings.

Advice: Lowe teed off on Dallas Keuchel Wednesday, tagging the Brewers' starter for an RBI single in the second inning before launching a two-run shot off Keuchel in the fourth. The long ball was Lowe's first in 37 games and his third of the campaign. He's batting .257 with nine runs and seven RBI over 23 games in June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:10 pm
