    • Lands on injured list
The White Sox placed Mendick on the 10-day injured list Saturday with lower-back tightness, retroactive to Thursday.

Advice: Mendick's back issues caused him to be scratched from the lineup prior to Friday's game, and it will now officially cost him more than a week as he heads to the IL. Bryan Ramos was recalled from Double-A Birmingham in a corresponding move and should receive the majority of reps at third base while Mendick is sidelined. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

    • Andrew Vaughn not starting Saturday vs. STL
Andrew Vaughn is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Vaughn, 26, has swung the bat much better as of late with his average rising to .196 from the .157 mark he carried on April 24. He’ll get a day off with Gavin Sheets handling first base and Robbie Grossman starting in right field. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Promoted to majors
The White Sox recalled Ramos from Double-A Birmingham on Saturday.

Advice: Ramos has gotten off to a rough start this season at Double-A, slashing .182/.265/.307 with 11 RBI across 98 plate appearances. However, with Danny Mendick (back) headed to the injured list and the White Sox desperate for any sort of boost to their offense, the 22-year-old Ramos will skip Triple-A and get his first taste of the big leagues. He is likely to serve as Chicago's primary third baseman while Mendick is on the IL. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • White Sox place Danny Mendick on IL with back tightness
White Sox placed INF Danny Mendick on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 2, with lower back tightness.

Advice: Mendick will be out for at least a week while recovering. The White Sox have recalled INF Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte to take Mendick’s place on the active roster. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Participating in drills
Suzuki (oblique) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday with Cody Bellinger, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Suzuki suffered a right oblique strain April 14, and he was placed on the 10-day IL one day later. He was limited to light activity, but has since progressed to on-field batting practice. After his batting session Wednesday, Suzuki noted that he felt he was 80 percent recovered from his oblique strain and could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues to progress, per Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune. • Spencer Torkelson moves down to seventh spot
Spencer Torkelson is hitting seventh and playing first base against the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Torkelson continues to move down in the lineup, and it’s easy to justify with a slash of .212/.282/.288 over 132 plate appearances. The first-overall pick in 2020 was excellent in the second-half of the 2023 campaign, but that hasn’t carried over whatsoever in 2024. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues should be searching for a potential replacement if they haven’t cut bait already. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
    • Jordan Wicks (forearm) playing long toss Saturday
Jordan Wicks (forearm) is playing long toss before Saturday’s game versus the Brewers.

Advice: Wicks was placed on the injured list Sunday with a forearm strain. The fact he’s throwing is obviously a positive development, but he’ll need to get in a few bullpen sessions — and possibly a rehab start — before he’s ready to roll again. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Increasing baseball activiteis
Bellinger (ribs) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Bellinger landed on the 10-day IL on April 24 after fracturing his right rib against the Astros the day prior. It's a good sign that the 2019 NL MVP is taking the first step in his recovery, though Bellinger has more work to do before beginning a rehab assignment. In his absence, Pete Crow-Armstrong has served as the primary starter in center field and is slashing .259/.250/.444 with one home run and seven RBI over 29 plate appearances this season. • Bellinger, Suzuki participating in drills Saturday
Cody Bellinger (rib) and Seiya Suzuki (oblique) are hitting and participating in defensive drills Saturday.

Advice: Bellinger and Suzuki are key cogs of the Chicago offense, and both are working their way before from significant injuries. Both will need rehab assignments before they can return to the lineup, but it does appear both Suzuki and Bellinger could be back with the club before the end of May. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
