    • Pirates transfer Ryan Borucki to 60-day IL
Pirates transferred LHP Ryan Borucki to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster for lefty reliever Justin Bruihl. The 30-year-old southpaw has been out since early April due to left triceps inflammation and remains without a timetable to return. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:24 pm

    • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Pirates transferred Borucki (wrist) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 30-year-old southpaw will give up his 40-man roster spot for Justin Bruihl, who signed with the Pirates on Thursday. Borucki's move to the 60-day IL won't affect the duration of his stint on the injured list, which began in early April, and he remains without a return timeline since being diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in May. • Reds activate Emilio Pagán for Thursday return
Reds activated RHP Emilio Pagán from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Pagán landed on the injured list on May 23 with triceps soreness. He’s been solid for the Reds this season with a 4.19 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 19 1/3 innings while striking out 25 and walking seven batters. The 33-year-old could work himself back into high-leverage opportunities if he pitches well. Graham Ashcraft was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:38 am

    • Back from IL
The Reds reinstated Pagan (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Right triceps tightness had kept Pagan sidelined since May 19, but he made enough improvement over the past couple of weeks to make his return to the Cincinnati bullpen without the need of a rehab assignment prior to being activated. The 33-year-old righty owns a 4.19 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 19.1 innings on the season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:07 am

    • Will return Thursday
Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday that Pagan (triceps) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: He will have missed just over the minimum 15 days with a right triceps issue. Pagan has posted a 4.19 ERA, but also a 25:7 K:BB across 19.1 innings out of the Reds' bullpen in 2024. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:42 am

    • Picks up win in return
Ginkel (4-1) returned from a leg injury and picked up Tuesday's win over the Giants. He allowed two hits and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Ginkel made his first appearance since taking a comebacker off the leg Saturday. He was the first reliever up after starter Blake Walston -- 88 pitches, 47 strikes -- labored through 4.1 innings and left with Arizona leading. Pitching this early in games or getting more than three outs are not typically Ginkel's roles, but he had thrown just 14 pitches over the last five days and had the bullets to go a little longer than normal. • Needs more time
Pagan (triceps) is not expected to be activated when eligible June 4, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Reds manager David Bell indicated Pagan might need a few more days beyond the 15-day minimum. The right-handed reliever is expected to have one more side bullpen session. Pagan was added to the injured list after experiencing right triceps soreness during a game against the Dodgers on May 19. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:50 am

    • Months away from return
Graterol (shoulder) hasn't yet resumed playing catch and is likely at least two months away from being able to return to the Dodgers' bullpen, per MLB.com.

Advice: Graterol landed on the IL with right shoulder inflammation prior to the Dodgers' season-opening series in South Korea. The righty reliever began a throwing progression in mid-April, but that was stopped after about a week due to continued soreness. Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Graterol hasn't yet resumed playing catch and added, "In the context of spring training, if you're not even playing catch, you're at least a couple months away." • X-rays come back clean
Ginkel is day-to-day after X-rays on his left knee came back negative following Saturday's 10-5 win over the Mets, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Ginkel took a 98.3 mile-per-hour comebacker to the inside of his left knee during his relief appearance in the sixth inning and was immediately lifted from the contest. Fortunately for Ginkel, he seems to be dealing with nothing more than bruising to his leg, and he disclosed after the game that he's already feeling better. Manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism that Ginkel could be available out of the bullpen as soon as Sunday's series finale with the Mets, though the Diamondbacks may prefer to stay away from him for another day or two to afford him additional healing time.
