    • Back in action Friday
Alonso (hand) is playing first and batting second during Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Alonso was hit by a pitch Wednesday, but after a clean CT scan and a day off Thursday, the first baseman will rejoin the Mets' starting nine. Alonso owns a .771 OPS and has the third most homers among first basemen this season with 12. Rotowire.com Today, 12:05 pm

    • Steals ninth bag
Marte went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The veteran outfielder ended a 12-game drought on the basepaths while recorded his second straight multi-hit performance. Marte is batting .333 (10-for-30) over the last 12 games, a hot streak that has boosted his slash line on the season to .267/.314/.395 with six homers, nine steals, 19 RBI and 27 runs in 52 contests. • Perfect at plate Thursday
Lindor went 4-for-4 with a home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 3-2 win against Arizona.

Advice: Lindor suffered a swollen finger on a bunt attempt during a game Tuesday, but the issue hasn't caused him to miss any time and certainly didn't seem to impact his swing Thursday. The shortstop collected his second four-hit game of the season, which was highlighted by a 431-foot solo homer in the third inning. Lindor is still batting just .225 on the campaign, but he's hit safely in nine straight contests and has posted a .375 batting average, two homers, four doubles and six RBI over that span. • Francisco Lindor goes 4-for-4 with homer and steal
Francisco Lindor went 4-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a stolen base in a 3-2 win Thursday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Fantasy managers have to be thrilled seeing this one, as Lindor has been a massive disappointment a third of the way through 2024. The homer is the ninth of the season, and the stolen base gives the 30-year-old seven swipes through 2024. Lindor has gotten off to poor starts before only to finish hot, and there’s reason to believe that can happen again. It doesn’t make the previous two months any less frustrating, however. • Mets officially move on from Jorge López
Mets designated RHP Jorge López for assignment.

Advice: This move was reported last night and was much discussed after the social media firestorm that followed López being ejected from the game and throwing his glove into the stands. A video was posted where López was alleged to have said the Mets were the worst team in baseball, but the reliever clarified in the morning that what he actually said was that he was the worst teammate in baseball. Regardless, the Mets stated that López’s comments to the media had no influence on their decision to release him but that he was released because of his antics on the field and the fact that he expressed no regret about them. The 31-year-old is likely to get a shot with another team this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:34 pm

    • Taking seat Thursday
Bader is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Mets will go with Brandon Nimmo in center field for this one, with DJ Stewart getting the call in left field. Bader is one of the few Mets players playing at or above expectations this season with a 103 OPS+ along with stellar outfield defense. However, he's nonetheless found himself out of the lineup fairly often with 15 starts over the Mets' last 22 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 am

    • Held out of lineup Thursday
Alonso (hand) is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Alonso managed to avoid any fractures after exiting Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers following a hit-by-pitch on the right hand. However, he is dealing with a painful bone bruise that will cause him to miss at least one start. Mark Vientos will handle first base Thursday while Brett Baty covers third base. • Removed from 40-man
The Mets designated Lopez for assignment Thursday.

Advice: Lopez has been decent on the mound this season with a 3.76 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, but he will be ousted from the Mets after throwing his glove into the stands upon being ejected from Wednesday's contest. Lopez also seemed to publicly criticize the Mets organization during a postgame interview, though he later clarified his statement, calling himself "the worst teammate in MLB." The 31-year-old reliever will likely draw plenty of interest on the waiver wire from other teams in need of bullpen help, and Danny Young will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the open spot in New York's pitching staff. • Produces team's lone run Wednesday
Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to Miami on Wednesday.

Advice: Kim's third-inning solo shot was the only run San Diego managed against Braxton Garrett and four Marlins relievers. The long ball was Kim's seventh through 231 plate appearances this season, putting him on pace to surpass last year's career-best total of 17 homers. The shortstop has added 13 stolen bases but has otherwise struggled with a .214/.326/.367 slash line. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 am
