    • Absence continuing Sunday
Machado (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Machado continues to nurse a strained right hip flexor and will sit Sunday for the fourth straight game. The 31-year-old appeared as a pinch hitter in the first of those absences Thursday but otherwise hasn't seen game action since he suffered the injury Wednesday. Donovan Solano is receiving another start at the hot corner in the series finale against Arizona. Rotowire.com Today, 10:29 am

    • Manny Machado (hip) out again Sunday
Manny Machado (hip) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Padres.

Advice: Machado will get another day while dealing with the hip injury he suffered during Wednesday’s game against the Angels. He has been able to play as a pinch-hitter, however, and he has a chance to be available off the bench for the series finale as well. Donovan Solano is starting at third and hitting fifth in Machado’s absence. Rotoworld Today, 10:19 am

    • Sitting as expected Sunday
Hoerner (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.

Advice: The 27-year-old was diagnosed with a small fracture in his hand Saturday after being hit by a pitch Thursday, so it's not a surprise he's sitting for the series finale versus the Reds. Hoerner won't necessarily require a trip to the injured list, and he may be able to play through the injury once the swelling subsides. Michael Busch will handle the keystone Sunday for the Cubs. • Nico Hoerner (hand) out again Sunday vs. Reds
Nico Hoerner (hand) is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner is dealing with a small fracture in his right hand, and he won’t be able to play until the pain and swelling are able to subside. While Hoerner is out, Michael Busch will handle second base duties. Hoerner should be considered day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list can’t be ruled out just yet. Rotoworld Today, 8:01 am

    • Receiving first day off
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: The 26-year-old was scheduled to sit last weekend but convinced his way back into the lineup, so it's possible the Brewers make another late lineup change. For now, Contreras is set to be on the bench for the first time this season after making 64 straight starts to begin 2024. He's struggled early in June with a .492 OPS through seven contests and is homerless in his past 60 at-bats, so it's a good time for some extra rest. Gary Sanchez will work behind the plate and bat fifth Sunday. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 am
    • William Contreras out Sunday against Tigers
William Contreras is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Contreras was supposed to get his first day off of the season last Sunday, but he and Willy Adames were both inserted into the lineup later. Assuming the lineup doesn’t change, Contreras will finally get that day of rest. Gary Sanchez is the starting catcher and hitting fifth. Rotoworld Today, 7:39 am
    • Matt Waldron holds D-Backs to one run over six
Matt Waldron allowed just one run in six innings to get a victory Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Waldron didn’t have to be at his best with the Padres giving 13 runs of support, but he was pretty close to it. He allowed just three hits over his six innings, and he fanned four while issuing two walks. Since his struggles against the D-Backs on May 5, Waldron has been outstanding, and his ERA has lowered from 5.82 to 3.76 in that timeframe. Another chance to lower that mark comes over the weekend against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:08 pm

    • Posts big stat line Saturday
Tovar went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four total RBI in Saturday's 6-5 win against St. Louis.

Advice: Tovar kicked off the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single to left field. That was just the beginning of a massive performance by the young shortstop -- he added a solo homer in the sixth and a tiebreaking two-run shot in the seventh. The four-hit game was Tovar's second of the campaign, and he finished with his second multi-homer performance of the season. Tovar is somewhat quietly enjoying a breakout 2024, slashing .294/.326/.487 with 10 homers, 28 RBI, 34 runs and four stolen bases through 282 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 pm
    • Another pair of steals
Doyle went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases Saturday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Doyle notably hit second in the lineup for the first time since May 4, as Ezequiel Tovar shifted to third as the Rockies deal with several injuries to regular starters. Doyle delivered a strong line, highlighted by a pair of steals to bring his total on the season to 17. He also has two steals in two of his last three starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 pm
