    • Activated from injured list
The Pirates activated Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Hayes has been sidelined since early May with a back injury but will skip a rehab assignment and go directly back on the Pirates' active roster. The third baseman is slashing a disappointing .240/.322/.318 with just one home run and zero stolen bases this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:57 am

    • Pirates activate Ke’Bryan Hayes on Tuesday
Pirates activated 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Hayes returns after missing three weeks with inflammation in his back. The 27-year-old hasn’t been successful in 2024, when healthy, with a pedestrian .640 OPS. However, he was a solid option in 2023 with enough talent to suggest as a speculative add for those who need help in the corner infield. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:50 am

    • Takes part in light running Monday
Nootbaar (hamstring) hit in the batting cage and did some light running prior to Monday's game against the Reds, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Nootbaar tweaked his hamstring while legging out a triple in Saturday's game against the Cubs and has since sat out the last two games. The outfielder told Denton that he should be ready to return to the lineup whenever the Cardinals give him the green light. The Cardinals are slated to face a left-hander starter Tuesday and have an off day Thursday, factors which could weigh into their decision as to when to reinsert Nootbaar into the lineup. • Receiving another start
Brown is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Brewers at American Family Field.

Advice: Brown made his fifth start of the season and his first since May 2 in his last appearance Thursday versus Atlanta, striking out six over four scoreless innings while working around one hit and two walks. Because he had been working out of the bullpen over the preceding three weeks and took the mound versus Atlanta on three days' rest, Brown had his workload monitored carefully, as he was pulled after 66 pitches despite mowing down the opposing lineup. Brown should be able to provide the Cubs with more length when he takes the hill Tuesday, but his run in the Chicago rotation may not last much longer, with Jordan Wicks (forearm) nearing a return from the 15-day injured list. • Nearing new rehab assignment
Jones (back/knee) took batting practice and completed light outfield drills prior to Monday's game, MLB.com reports.

Advice: This was significant progress for Jones, marking the first time he swung a bat since his first rehab assignment was halted when he experienced knee inflammation. The next step will be running the bases, but that could be the final benchmark before he embarks on a second rehab stint in the minors. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 am

    • Swipes bag in loss
Harris went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Batting seventh in an Atlanta lineup that got juggled around in the wake of a season-ending knee injury to Ronald Acuna, Harris reached base twice for the fourth time in the last six games. The 23-year-old center fielder is still looking to regain his usual form, but he's showing signs of heating up -- over his last 16 contests, he's slashing .290/.333/.403 with two of his five homers and three of his eight steals on the year. • Collects three hits, stolen base
Young went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and one RBI in Monday's 8-4 victory over Atlanta.

Advice: Young hit three singles and added his 12th RBI of the season in the sixth inning. Most importantly to fantasy owners, the Washington center fielder swiped his 16th base, moving him into a tie for fourth place in the majors. Overall, Young sports a .275/.329/.328 slash line in 146 plate appearances with 23 runs scored. He should continue to play full time despite Lane Thomas (knee) returning Monday, as the Nationals designated Victor Robles for assignment to open a roster spot for Thomas. • Lars Nootbaar day-to-day with hamstring issue
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Lars Nootbaar is “day-to-day” with a hamstring strain.

Advice: Marmol said that the team believed that keeping Nootbaar out of the lineup on Sunday and Monday is “the smart thing to do,” but they “don’t see it lingering.” That provides some optimism that Nootbaar could make it back in the middle of this week; however, hamstring injuries are known to linger so fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues could decide to play it safe and sit Nootbaar this week. • Remains out Monday
Nootbaar (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Nootbaar was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup due to a hamstring issue. With tough left-hander Nick Lodolo on the mound for the Reds on Monday, it makes sense to hold Nootbaar out again. Cincinnati does another another southpaw scheduled to start Tuesday in Andrew Abbott, so it's possible Nootbaar could remain out until Wednesday. For what it's worth, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday of Nootbaar's injury that "we don't see it lingering," per John Denton of MLB.com. Dylan Carlson will be in right field Monday.
