    • Ben Brown no-hits the Brewers for seven innings
      Ben Brown pitched seven innings of no-hit ball in the Cubs’ win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

      Advice: Brown was excellent in this one. The righty needed just 41 pitches to get through the first four innings and struck out six of the first 12 batters he faced to start the game. His two walks allowed were his lone blemishes on the evening, but Brown has now allowed just two hits in his last 13 innings pitched while boasting a 19/5 K/BB ratio. Brown lowered his ERA to 2.72 on the season but was robbed of his second win after Hector Neris blew a save opportunity in the ninth.     • Tuesday's start rained out
      Jones and the Pirates will not play the Tigers on Tuesday due to inclement weather, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

      Advice: Tuesday's contest will be made up during a doubleheader Wednesday, and Jones will presumably pitch one of the two games. The 22-year-old right-hander owns a 3.05 ERA and 0.97 WHIP on the year, though he's allowed three earned runs in six innings during both of his last two outings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

    • Receiving another start
      Brown is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Brewers at American Family Field.

      Advice: Brown made his fifth start of the season and his first since May 2 in his last appearance Thursday versus Atlanta, striking out six over four scoreless innings while working around one hit and two walks. Because he had been working out of the bullpen over the preceding three weeks and took the mound versus Atlanta on three days' rest, Brown had his workload monitored carefully, as he was pulled after 66 pitches despite mowing down the opposing lineup. Brown should be able to provide the Cubs with more length when he takes the hill Tuesday, but his run in the Chicago rotation may not last much longer, with Jordan Wicks (forearm) nearing a return from the 15-day injured list.     • Handed first loss
      Suarez (9-1) yielded five runs (four earned) on three hits and four walks over six innings Sunday, striking out nine and taking a loss against the Rockies.

      Advice: Colorado pounced on Suarez early, plating two runs in the first inning and another three in the second. He was able to settle in for four shutout frames to finish the start, but the damage was already done. It was the first time this season he's issued more than two walks or allowed more than three runs. On a more positive note, Suarez generated a season-high 19 whiffs and improved his K:BB to 77:16 through 72 frames. He'll carry a 1.75 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to be at home against the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:20 pm
       
    • Allows two runs in no-decision
      Manaea did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs, five hits and a walk over five innings against the Giants. He struck out six.

      Advice: Manaea threw 88 pitches, allowing single runs in the second and third innings prior to exiting the game after five innings. He was in line for a tough-luck loss but was bailed out when the Mets scored three in the bottom of the ninth for the come-from-behind victory. Manaea entered the game on six days rest and tallied his seventh-consecutive start of allowing three or fewer runs. Through 10 starts, Manaea has a solid ERA of 3.16 with a 1.29 WHIP and 47 strikeouts over 51.1 innings.     • Suffers second defeat
      Yamamoto (5-2) suffered the loss Sunday against the Reds, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Yamamoto was done in by a lack of run support combined with a tough-luck four-run third inning. Yamamoto recorded two outs in the third but an infield single by Jake Fraley extended the inning while loading the bases and was followed by consecutive two-run singles by Jonathan India and Nick Martini. The outing marked Yamamoto's first defeat since the first game of the season and came on the heels of an impressive five-game stretch where Yamamoto went 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 32 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place next weekend when the Dodgers welcome the division-rival Rockies to Chavez Ravine. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:30 pm
       
    • Ranger Suárez struggles with command in loss
      Ranger Suárez allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits in six innings in a loss to the Rockies on Sunday.

      Advice: Suárez struck out nine but also walked four and threw just 42 percent of pitches in the strike zone. He did rack up an impressive 39 percent whiff rate but he had just 12 called strikes on the day, compared to 19 whiffs. Given that this game was in Colorado, we can give Suárez a little bit of a pass; however, he might still be a solid sell-high candidate if a fantasy manager in your league values him as a top 20-25 starting pitcher the rest of the way.     • Sean Manaea solid across five innings
      Sean Manaea allowed two earned runs in five innings on Sunday against the Giants. He struck out six and walked one in a no-decision.

      Advice: Both of Manaea’s runs were incredibly frustrating: an errant pick-off by catcher Tomás Nido to third allowed Matt Chapman to come home and then nine-hitter Brett Wisely hit the third home run of his career. Still, Manaea continued what’s been a great start to the season despite an inability to pitch deep into games. The Giants swung and missed at his sinker 10 times on Sunday, the most whiffs that pitch has gotten in any game for Manaea this season.     • Picks up fourth save
      Sewald earned the save in a win over the Marlins on Saturday, striking out one over a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Sewald had no issues running through the bottom of Miami's lineup to secure the save, needing just nine pitches to get the job done. The right-handed reliever remains perfect on the season in save opportunities and hasn't allowed a run since his first relief appearance back on May 7 (spanning six appearances).
