    • Not starting versus lefty
Peralta isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.

Advice: With lefty Jesus Luzardo on the mound for Miami, the lefty-hitting Peralta will watch the beginning of Tuesday's game from the dugout. Manny Machado will instead operate as San Diego's DH while Donovan Solano picks up a start at third base, batting sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:18 pm
    • Designated for assignment
The Giants designated McKenna for assignment Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Just 10 days after getting claimed off waivers from Baltimore, McKenna's time with the Giants has come to an end. The 27-year-old outfielder went 0-for-6 with a stolen base and a run scored in four games with the Giants. He sports a .626 OPS in 523 plate appearances across his MLB career and could draw some interest on the waiver wire from a team in need of outfield depth. Tyler Fitzgerald was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 3:01 pm

    • Giants recall Tyler Fitzgerald on Tuesday
Giants recalled INF/OF Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Fitzgerald is back with San Francisco after launching six homers in six games over the last week for Triple-A Sacramento. The 26-year-old figures to come off the bench for the Giants as extra depth moving forward. He’s gotten into 22 contests this season in the big leagues, batting .269 (14-for-52) with one homer and four steals. Rotoworld Today, 2:59 pm

    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Fitzgerald was sent to the minors May 20 following the addition of Ryan McKenna from Baltimore. However, Fitzgerald has gone 11-for-25 with six homers and 13 RBI in just six games since joining Sacramento, so the Giants will bring him back up to the majors and look to take advantage of his hot bat. The 26-year-old owns a .269/.309/.442 slash line in 55 MLB plate appearances this year, and his return will cause the dismissal of McKenna, who was DFA'd in a corresponding move. • Giants designate Ryan McKenna for assignment
Giants designated OF Ryan McKenna for assignment.

Advice: Mckenna was claimed off waivers earlier this month from the Orioles and winds up getting jettisoned from San Francisco’s 40-man roster after going hitless in six at-bats over four contests. Rotoworld Today, 2:52 pm

    • Has upcoming bullpen
Bukauskas (triceps) will throw a bullpen Friday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Advice: Bukauskas was transferred to the 60-day injured list May 10 due a right triceps strain that had originally been classified as a lat strain when he first hit the IL on April 14. If his bullpen session goes well, he could soon progress to what would figure to be a lengthy rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 2:47 pm

    • Rehab assignment on tap
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday that a decision on where Gallegos (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment will be made Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw a live bullpen session over the weekend and had another bullpen session Tuesday, clearing him to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Gallegos landed on the shelf with a pinched nerve in his shoulder in early May, and he should be able to rejoin the Cardinals after a short stay in the minor leagues. Rotowire.com Today, 1:56 pm
    • Keynan Middleton (forearm) suffers setback
Cardinal manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Tuesday that Keynan Middleton is undergoing additional imaging on his right forearm.

Advice: It’s yet another setback for Middleton, who has yet to throw a pitch this season for St. Louis after signing as a free agent. The 30-year-old righty started a minor league rehab assignment earlier this month, but appears to still be dealing with flexor tendon pain. There is no timetable for his return at the moment. • Undergoing imaging
Middleton (forearm) is getting imaging done and will be checked out by team doctors Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Middleton reported soreness after making back-to-back rehab appearances at Double-A Springfield and will get evaluated by the team. He's been sidelined since March with a strained right forearm and was close to being activated from the 15-day IL before suffering the setback. Rotowire.com Today, 1:47 pm
