• Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Garrett for assignment Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Garrett will be pushed off the 40-man roster as Davis Daniel comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Garrett's place in the Angels' bullpen. Since joining the active roster in late April, the 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs while striking out 11 batters through 5.1 innings across six appearances. He's performed well in the minors this year and found a good amount of success last season with the Royals, so it's possible he draws interest from other teams on the waiver wire. • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts). He’ll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Tuesday. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Done in by long ball
Perez (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing nine runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: All nine of Milwaukee's runs against Perez came via home run -- the left-hander gave up a career-high five long balls after not allowing more than one in any of his first eight starts this year. It was a brutal day for the veteran left-hander, whose ERA is up to 4.86 with a 1.50 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 50 innings this season. Perez will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently slated for early next week at home versus San Francisco. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Paul Sewald quiets Reds to collect second save
Paul Sewald tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Reds to collect his second save of the season.

Advice: Sewald got the call to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. put Arizona ahead in the top of the frame with a two-out RBI double. He got Mike Ford to ground out before coaxing a harmless pop up from Spencer Steer and a fly out from Jeimer Candelario to end the contest. The 33-year-old veteran stopper has converted both of his save chances to go along with a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 4/1 K/BB ratio across four innings (four appearances) since returning from the injured list back on May 7. • Locks down fifth save
Scott earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Tigers, allowing two hits while striking out one in a scoreless inning.

Advice: The Tigers made things interesting with a pair of two-out singles off Scott in the ninth inning before the left-hander struck out Riley Greene, who represented the winning run, closing out Miami's shutout victory. Scott hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 10.1 innings, striking out 12 in that span. He's 5-for-6 in save opportunities with a 2.00 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 19:17 K:BB across 18 innings this season. • DFA'd by Dodgers
The Dodgers designated Crismatt for assignment Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Crismatt was added to the active roster April 27 and has since given up two earned runs through five innings across four appearances. The Dodgers are in need of fresh bullpen arms for Wednesday's game against San Francisco, so they will cast the 29-year-old right-hander off the 40-man for the second time this year and select Elieser Hernandez from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace Crismatt. • Sent back to minors
The Dodgers optioned Varland to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Since coming up from the minors in late April, Varland has given up one earned run through 5.1 innings while striking out three batters and walking four. He last pitched Tuesday, so he'll return to the minors to make room for a fresh arm in Eduardo Salazar, as the Dodgers prepare to rely on their bullpen to get them through Wednesday's affair with the Giants. • Dodgers designate Nabil Crismatt for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Nabil Crismatt for assignment.

Advice: The Dodgers needed to clear space on their active roster — and their 40-man roster — to add some bullpen depth on Wednesday and unfortunately Crismatt wound up being the odd-man out. The 29-year-old hurler certainly held his own out of the Dodgers’ bullpen this season, registering a 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 6/0 K/BB ratio over seven innings of work. That should be enough to attract interest on waivers. Rotoworld Today, 2:49 pm
  • Recalled from OKC
The Dodgers recalled Salazar from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Through seven starts at Triple-A, Salazar has posted a 5.61 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 33.2 innings. Although he's been used exclusively as a starter in the minors this season, he will come out of the bullpen for the Dodgers, giving the team depth during its bullpen game Wednesday against the Giants. Gus Varland was optioned to Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:45 pm
