    • Earns third win
Eflin (3-4) earned the win Monday, allowing three runs on six hits while not walking a batter over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

Advice: Eflin was able to grind through five innings, tossing 91 pitches to earn the win for the second-consecutive start. After being staked with a three-run lead before ever taking the hill, Eflin allowed a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill in the bottom of the first that tied the score. Despite the elevated pitch count through five, Eflin managed to keep the Red Sox off the board throughout the remainder of his start and did not allow a free pass in the process. Eflin will carry a 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Rays travel to Toronto for a three-game set against the division-rival Blue Jays. • MRI shows inflammation
An MRI revealed that Riley has inflammation in his left side, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The results of Riley's MRI indicate that he'll be able to avoid a trip to the 10-day injured list, though the club will exercise caution to ensure he doesn't make the injury worse. "They'll treat him up tomorrow and see where he's at," said manager Brian Snitker. "The MRI just showing inflammation is a good thing, now it's going to be maintenance and a day-to-day thing." • Zach Eflin completes five frames to beat Red Sox
Zach Eflin gave up three runs over five innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Eflin was tagged for a three-run blast by Tyler O’Neill in the opening frame, but managed to settle in afterwards, keeping Boston’s lineup scoreless for the remainder of his abbreviated outing at Fenway Park. He struck out two and didn’t hand out a free pass for the sixth time in his last seven starts. The 30-year-old control artist will bring a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 41/4 K/BB ratio across 53 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the division-rival Blue Jays. • Austin Riley day-to-day with side inflammation
Austin Riley’s MRI showed nothing more than inflammation in his left side, according to the Braves.

Advice: Consider Riley to be day-to-day. If he doesn’t feel better by midweek, the Braves could weigh placing him on the IL, but that’s not the plan for now. Zack Short will fill in at third base. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:11 pm

    • Adley Rutschman crushes two homers in O’s loss
Adley Rutschman clobbered a pair of solo homers on Monday in the Orioles’ loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Rutschman took Blue Jays starter José Berríos deep in the fourth and sixth innings to record the first multi-homer performance of his young career. The 26-year-old franchise cornerstone, who has gone deep in back-to-back contests, is batting .309/.343/.491 with 23 runs scored, eight homers, 25 RBI and one steal through 175 plate appearances this season. Advice: Rutschman hit both blasts off Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios, giving him eight on the season and three over the last two games. The third-year star is now slashing .309/.343/.491 with 25 RBI and 23 runs to go along with the eight home runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:53 pm

    • Back in lineup Monday
Ohtani (back) is serving as the designated hitter and batting second in Monday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Ohtani sat out Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Padres after leaving Saturday's game due to back tightness. The day off seems to have done the trick, and Ohtani is back in action for Monday's series opener. Ohtani has gone 12-for-28 with eight runs, four stolen bases, four home runs and eight RBI in May. • Shohei Ohtani rejoins lineup after back tightness
Shohei Ohtani has returned to the Dodgers lineup for Monday’s game after missing one day with back tightness.

    • Undergoing MRI on side
Riley is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs and is slated to undergo an MRI on his injured left side, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Riley was lifted in the bottom of the fourth inning of Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Mets after experiencing left side tightness, which reportedly first surfaced during batting practice earlier that day. While Atlanta remains hopeful that Riley isn't dealing with a long-term injury, more will be known once the MRI results are in later Monday. Zack Short will pick up a start at the hot corner Monday while Riley exits the starting nine for the first time all season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:24 pm
