    • Kody Clemens (back) homers in rehab appearance
Kody Clemens went 3-for-5 with a homer in his fourth rehab game for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Advice: There was a report last week indicating that Clemens would be mostly used in left field on his rehab assignment, but he’s started just one game there thus far. He played second last night, and he’s also started at first base and DH’d once. With seven hits, including two homers and two doubles in his last three games, he appears ready to return from the back spasms that sidelined him for three weeks. Rotoworld Today, 7:35 am

    • On fire at Triple-A
Noel is slashing .402/.471/.705 with nine home runs and a 14.5 percent strikeout rate in his last 30 games for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: With Kyle Manzardo failing to take a big-league job and run with it and Noel already being on the 40-man roster, Noel could get a shot as Cleveland's designated hitter sometime this summer. The righty-hitting slugger has huge raw power, and while he has seen 25 starts in the corner outfield spots this season, he's probably too big (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to get regular starts in the outfield at the highest level. • Gio Urshela gets Wednesday off for Tigers
Gio Urshela is out of the Tigers lineup Wednesday for the first time since June 15.

Advice: Urshela, who is hitting .253/.292/.322 on the season, didn’t seem likely to play quite this much when he came off the IL last month, but injuries to Kerry Carpenter and Javier Báez have eliminated any real need to get Matt Vierling and Andy Ibáñez playing time at third. Vierling is playing the hot corner today on what’s probably just a routine day off for Urshela. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 am

    • Resting for day game
Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: He'll take a seat for the day game after a night game, paving the way for Matt Vierling to pick up a start at third base. Urshela had been included in the Detroit lineup in each of the last nine games, going just 4-for-34 at the plate to bring his batting average down to .253 for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:01 am

    • Swipes first bag of season
Tellez went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Reds.

Advice: The burly first baseman stole the fourth bag of his career, and his first since 2022, in the first inning as the Pirates grabbed an early 3-0 lead. Tellez has been enjoying his strong-side platoon role in June -- through 59 plate appearances this month, he's slashing .352/.407/.500 with five doubles, a homer, six runs and 11 RBI. • Will begin swinging this week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Casas (ribs) will begin swinging a bat this week, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Casas underwent an MRI on Tuesday and is apparently ready to take the next step. He had been lightly swinging a bat but never graduated to swinging with full force. Cora said the team will reveal more details Wednesday. Casas is targeting a return for July 2, which might be too ambitious. Rotowire.com Today, 6:01 am

    • Drives in four at Fenway
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: He did get charged with two errors, but Guerrero made up for his fielding gaffes with two-run doubles in the third and fourth innings. The first baseman is red hot, slashing .349/.364/.628 over the last 10 games with three doubles, three homers and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 5:59 am
    • Goes yard twice against Yanks
Vientos went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The 24-year-old third baseman wasn't intimidated by the atmosphere in the Subway Series, or by the prospect of facing Gerrit Cole -- Vientos took the future Hall of Famer deep in the second and fourth innings to help the Mets build an early 6-0 lead. He's homered four times in the last five games, and through 19 games in June, Vientos has compiled a .275/.329/.565 slash line with six long balls, 12 RBI and 14 runs. • May remain at first base
Steer started at first base and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

Advice: Steer's been locked in of late, going 11-for-35 with eight RBI over the last nine contests. He began the season as the team's primary left fielder but has played a lot at first base since Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) landed on the injured list in May. With news the Encarnacion-Strand opted for surgery that likely spells the end of his season, Steer is in line to become the club's primary first baseman. That could change when Noelvi Marte (suspension) returns. At that point, with Marte slotted in at third base, Jeimer Candelario could move from third to first. Rotowire.com Today, 5:10 am
