    • Brett Baty sits against second straight righty
Brett Baty is out of the lineup against a righty for a second straight game Wednesday against the Guardians.

Advice: While Baty and Mark Vientos had been platooning, it figured that Vientos would get one start against the Guardians, just because the Mets didn’t want him to sit around doing nothing for four days (three straight righties followed by an off day). Vientos, though, did very well with his start last night, going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, and he’s getting the nod again in this one. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see Baty demoted soon. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

    • Sitting against right-hander again
Baty is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Baty is on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Triston McKenzie), likely signaling that he's at least temporarily lost hold of his role as the Mets' preferred third baseman. Though he's drawn positive reviews for his work defensively this season, Baty has failed to take a notable step forward at the plate, as he's posted a .611 OPS through 150 plate appearances. Baty has performed especially poorly over the past three weeks, going just 5-for-40 with 19 strikeouts against three walks across a stretch of 13 games. Mark Vientos looks like he'll get an extended look at the hot corner as the Mets look to bolster their slumping offense. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Crosses plate twice in loss
Rivera went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Getting the start at third base and batting seventh against lefty Robert Gasser, Rivera had his first multi-hit performance since May 1 and his first extra-base hit since April 28. The 27-year-old has been back in a short-side platoon role for most of May with Jake Burger healthy, and Rivera's hitting just .240 (6-for-25) on the month with two RBI and five runs. • Drawing another start at third base
Vientos will start at third base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Vientos earned another start at the hot corner after homering and doubling in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians. Both starts have come against right-handed pitching, which is notable since he and the left-handed hitting Brett Baty had been in a strict platoon. Vientos is slashing .360/.407/.720 in eight games with the Mets this season. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Home run, double vs. Guardians
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Vientos got the Mets on the board in the fifth inning with a 430-foot bomb off Xzavion Curry before doubling in the sixth and scoring a second run on a Jeff McNeil homer. The 24-year-old Vientos is now 6-for-18 with four extra-base hits in five games since he was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. With Brett Baty struggling to a .180/.255/.320 slash line in May, Vientos could be in line for more playing time at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Today, 6:58 am

    • Three RBI in loss
Rengifo went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Rengifo got the Angels on the board quickly with a two-run blast off Christian Javier in the opening frame. He later plated a third run in the fourth on a base knock. He's now tallied at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games, which includes 13 hits and a .371 average over his last eight games. He's regularly been hitting first or second since coming back from the injured list last week and is now slashing ,316/.366/.474 with three homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs and an 8:18 BB:K in 124 plate appearances. • Collects three hits
Paredes went 3-for-5 with a two-RBI double during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Paredes plated Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena on a first-inning double to give the Rays an early lead. However, Tampa Bay wouldn't score again in the game, going 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position outside of Paredes' double. The third baseman has generated multiple hits in five of his last 10 games and leads the Rays in home runs and RBI on the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:48 pm

    • Abraham Toro hits go-ahead homer in eighth
Abraham Toro hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday as the A’s came back to defeat the Rockies 5-4.

Advice: Toro’s blast came after Seth Brown tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh. Toro, who was supposed to become a reserve due to the J.D. Davis acquisition at the end of the spring, has won back his job by hitting .294/.344/.459 in 183 plate appearances. His current .341 BABIP is more than 100 points higher than his .229 mark over his first five seasons. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

    • Luis Rengifo hits two-run homers against Astros
Luis Rengifo had a two-run homer and an RBI single versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Rengifo definitely wasn’t Ron Washington’s favorite player at the beginning of the year, but he’s been one of the best Angels thus far, having hit .316/.366/.474 in 124 plate appearances. Statcast thinks he’s way overachieving, given that his exit velocity numbers are significantly worse than his career marks, but things will probably even out there somewhat; his .840 OPS won’t quite hold up, but his exit velocity numbers should get better.
