    • Fans nine in no-decision
Heaney allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Heaney induced 15 swinging strikes in the outing, helping him reach a season-high nine punchouts. The left-hander's strong start was somewhat spoiled by a Pete Alonso two-run homer in the sixth, but Heaney still completed that frame to finish with his fourth quality start of the campaign. The veteran hurler is just 2-8 on the season, but he's offered some stability at the back of Texas' rotation by giving up three or fewer earned runs in each of his past 10 appearances, posting a 3.26 ERA across 49.2 frames during that span. • Serves up two homers in spot start
Liberatore allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Wednesday.

Advice: Liberatore was pressed into a spot start after Kyle Gibson (back) was a late scratch. This was one day after Liberatore was charged with a blown save after allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning. The southpaw yielded solo home runs to Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez in the first inning. Liberatore has a 4.46 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 28:15 K:BB over 38.1 innings over 26 appearances (four starts) this season, though he's mainly operated out of the bullpen as the Cardinals have tried to find one steady role for him. It's unclear at this time if Liberatore would be a candidate to start again should Gibson require a stint on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:22 pm
    • Grabs first win
Medina (1-2) allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Royals.

Advice: Medina came up one out short of a quality start, exiting the game at 88 pitches (54 strikes). He's had two good outings and two poor starts since joining the Athletics' rotation at the start of June. The 25-year-old is now at a 4.71 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 13:10 K:BB through 21 innings this season. With a weak offense to support him and a lack of dominant command, Medina offers minimal upside in fantasy outside of favorable matchups. He'll have one of those in his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:09 pm

    • Takes fifth loss
Ragans (4-5) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Ragans rattled off his fourth straight quality start, but he's still winless over his last five outings. The four walks were a season high for the southpaw, but it was still a decent performance for him despite the end result. He's maintained a 3.13 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 109:30 K:BB through 92 innings over 16 starts this season. Ragans is projected to make his next start at home versus the Marlins in a favorable matchup. • Registers second save
Maton earned a save against the Twins on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect 10th inning.

Advice: Regular closer Pete Fairbanks was unavailable due to a thumb injury, and Jason Adam was deployed to keep the game tied in the ninth, so Maton got the save opportunity with Tampa Bay up by a run in the top of the 10th. He got the job done quickly, needing just five pitches to retire the side in order with the automatic runner not moving beyond second base. Maton has two saves on the campaign, but he's not likely to get frequent chances to build upon that mark, especially with Fairbanks expected to be ready to return Thursday. • Luis Medina holds Royals to one run in win
Luis Medina allowed one run with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Medina put together a solid start against the Royals, holding them to one run into the sixth inning. He tossed four scoreless frames before Bobby Witt Jr. brought a run in to score on a double in the fifth. Medina recorded the first two outs in the sixth and exit with one runner on base. He struck out three. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 4.71 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 13/10 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. He’ll take on the Angels in Anaheim on Monday. • Cole Ragans strikes out seven in loss to A’s
Cole Ragans allowed two runs with seven strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Ragans worked around three hits through two scoreless innings before the A’s brought a pair of runs in to score on two walks and two singles in the third. Ragans settled in to toss three more scoreless innings, striking out seven before his day was done. He took the loss as the Royals scored just one run in the contest. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 3.13 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 109/30 K/BB ratio across 92 innings into a start against the Marlins in Kansas City on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:22 pm

    • Secures 15th save
Megill struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.

Advice: Megill needed just seven pitches (six strikes) against the middle of the Angels' order to close out this contest. He's pitched four of the last five days, but he's thrown just 12 pitches over his last two outings. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances with a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings this season. If Megill is unavailable for Thursday's series opener versus the Padres due to his recent workload, a potential save chance would likely go to Joel Payamps or Hoby Milner. • Exits with trainer
Altavilla was removed from Wednesday's game against the Athletics due to a back injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Altavilla seemed to be grabbing at his right side after throwing a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest, but manager Matt Quatraro said after the game that the issue was with Altavilla's back. The right-hander will be checked out by a doctor Thursday, at which point the Royals will know more regarding the severity of his injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:15 pm
