    • Red Sox activate Connor Wong from paternity list
Red Sox activated Connor Wong from the Paternity List.

Advice: Wong was placed on the paternity list on Monday and wound up missing two games for the Red Sox. He should be back in the starting lineup soon. Tyler Heineman was optioned back to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Today, 10:03 am

    • Returns from paternity list
The Red Sox reinstated Wong (personal) from the paternity list Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Wong missed the maximum three games while on paternity leave and will rejoin the Red Sox ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Padres. Tyler Heineman was optioned to Triple-A Worcester to clear room on the active roster for Wong, who should settle back in as Boston's No. 1 catcher while Reese McGuire serves as the backup. • Homers in first big-league at-bat
Noel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Noel enjoyed a storybook first big-league plate appearance, blasting a solo shot 413 feet to center field. The 22-year-old was promoted from Triple-A earlier in the day after blazing to a .295/.359/.578 slash line with 18 homers and 59 RBI over 65 games with Columbus. Noel's power is unquestioned -- he went deep 27 times at Triple-A last season -- though he has had some strikeout issues during his time in the minors. There isn't an obvious path to everyday at-bats with the big club, but if Joel is productive, he could work his way into fairly regular playing time by moving between first base, the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter. • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drives in two runs in loss
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI against the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. drove in two of the D-Backs’ three runs against the Twins, starting with a triple in the fourth to bring in the first run of the game for Arizona. With a runner on third in the sixth inning, he drove in a second run with a sacrifice fly. The 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .260/.293/.409 with 10 homers and 45 RBI across 310 plate appearances. • Seiya Suzuki slugs solo homer in loss to Giants
Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Suzuki’s only hit of the day left the yard, a game-tying homer in the fifth inning off of Hayden Birdsong. The 29-year-old outfielder is up to nine homers while slashing .263/.336/.446 with 29 runs scored, 29 RBI, and seven steals across 241 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm

    • Jhonkensy Noel homers in first MLB at-bat
Jhonkensy Noel went 1-for-4 with his first major league home run on Wednesday against the Orioles.

Advice: What a moment for Noel to send one over the fence in his first at-bat as a big leaguer. He put up 18 homers, a .578 slugging percentage, and had three batted balls over 115 MPH in 65 games at AAA this year, so power is his calling card. Josh Naylor is the Guardians’ every day first baseman, but David Fry has faltered in June and played a good bit of corner outfield and catcher along with being the Guardians’ usual DH. Noel may have an opportunity to prove himself over the next few weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:10 pm

    • Blue Jays and Red Sox suspended due to rain
Wednesday’s game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox in Boston was suspended due to rain.

Advice: There hadn’t been any rain in the forecast, but a storm popped up early in the second inning and washed out any chances of the two sides getting this game in. The game will resume on August 26 in the top half of the second inning, with the Blue Jays having a runner at first base with one out. Unfortunately for this week, both Kutter Crawford and Yariel Rodriguez won’t be able to deliver anything for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

    • Nolan Jones doubles, scores run in losing effort
Nolan Jones went 1-for-2 with a double on Wednesday in the Rockies’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: It’s been a tough season for Jones on the heels of last year’s unexpected breakthrough campaign, but he’s starting to show some signs of life recently, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with one homer and one steal over his last 15 games. The fact that he’s starting to hit for a little bit of power is an encouraging sign after injuries derailed the first few months of the season for him. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:59 pm

    • Connor Wong (paternity) expected back on Friday
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Connor Wong is expected to return from the paternity list on Friday.

Advice: The hard-hitting backstop missed the first half of the week to attend the birth of his child, but expect him to be right back behind the dish for Friday’s series opener against the Padres. The 28-year-old backstop has been a force at the plate this season, slashing .330/.390/.480 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases in 223 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:17 pm
