    • Ezequiel Tovar homers twice against A’s
Ezequiel Tovar hit a pair of solo homers Tuesday in a losing cause against the A’s.

Advice: In spite of his willingness to swing at anything and everything, Tovar has managed to hit .279/.313/.468 this season. His second homer today, projected at 443 feet, was the second longest of his career and easily the longest among those to come away from Coors Field. He’s actually hit 14 of his 23 career homers on the road, though his batting average is far better at home (.287 to .229). Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:42 pm
    • Records two hits in return
Swanson (knee) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3, 10-inning win over Atlanta.

Advice: Swanson was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday night and he made his return to the lineup Tuesday after missing two weeks. The shortstop hit the ground running against his former team, though he's been off to a slow start overall with just a .218 batting average across 38 games. Swanson should still see regular playing time moving forward despite his struggles, and he's talented enough to heat up in a hurry. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:10 pm
    • Officially activated
Swanson (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday night, per MLB's transaction log.

Advice: Swanson was expected to be activated prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta, and the team has elected to make the move official a bit earlier than anticipated despite not having a game Monday. Miles Mastrobuoni and Pete Crow-Armstrong were optioned to Triple-A Iowa in corresponding moves, making room for the upcoming promotion of Luis Vazquez. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:06 pm
    • Cubs activated Dansby Swanson from I.L.
Cubs activated SS Dansby Swanson from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The Cubs don’t play today, so it’s kind of surprising that the move is coming now. However, MLB.com’s transactions page says it’s official. Still unofficial is the Luis Vazquez callup, which is expected to happen before the game Tuesday. Swanson should start at shortstop Tuesday after missing two weeks with a sprained knee. • Eleven-game hitting streak
Tovar went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI on Saturday against the Giants.

Advice: Tovar took over as Colorado's leadoff hitter with a lefty on the mound and did his damage in the third inning with an RBI single before coming around to score in the same frame. He has at least one hit in each of his last 11 games, during which he's gone 17-for-49 with two home runs, seven runs scored and seven RBI. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:48 pm
    • Expected back Tuesday
The Cubs expect to reinstate Swanson (knee) from the injured list Tuesday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Swanson took live batting practice Friday for the first time since landing on the injured list May 10 with a right knee injury, and he appears to be trending toward a return shortly after the minimum 10 days. He will reclaim his role as Chicago's everyday shortstop once he returns, though the 30-year-old infielder had gone just 1-for-18 with a solo home run in his last six games prior to landing on the IL. • Dansby Swanson (knee) likely back on Tuesday
Dansby Swanson (knee) is likely to be activated for Tuesday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Swanson continues to ramp up baseball activities and it sounds like he’ll be activated early next week when first eligible to face his former club at Wrigley Field. The 30-year-old shortstop hit the shelf last week with a right knee sprain. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:33 am
    • Takes live batting practice
Swanson (knee) took live batting practice Friday, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Swanson landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a right knee injury. He'll be eligible for activation Saturday, but while it appears he is making progress, it seems unlikely that he will be ready at that time. With Nico Hoerner (hamstring) also banged up, the Cubs' shortstop depth has thinned, and Miles Mastrobuoni has started the last three games. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:27 am
    • Homers and doubles in win
Tovar went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres.

Advice: Tovar doubled to lead off a five-run sixth for the Rockies and then homered to kick off the seventh. He continued his recent hot streak at the plate and now has at least a hit in eight straight games, slashing .343/.361/.686 with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored over that span. The 31.1 strikeout rate is a bit alarming, but Tovar continues to hit toward the top of the lineup and is still making solid contact with a .275 average over 180 plate appearances thus far.
