    • Sharp in first rehab start
Kershaw (shoulder) completed three innings in a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

Advice: Kershaw impressed in his first game action since undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, throwing 26 of his 36 pitches for strikes and hitting 90 mph -- right around his regular-season velocity -- on his fastball. The veteran left-hander began a bit shakily in giving up a one-out first-inning triple that was cashed in on a sacrifice fly, but Kershaw was in complete control thereafter, with his only walk coming on a pitch-clock violation that appeared to be intentional in order to allow him to face another batter. Kershaw is expected to log multiple additional rehab outings before potentially joining Los Angeles' rotation sometime around mid-July. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm
    • Tosses quality start but takes loss
Crochet (6-6) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

Advice: Crochet racked up a hearty 19 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it wasn't enough to keep him out of the loss column in a contest during which he was supported with just one run. The fact that the three earned runs were the most the left-hander has allowed since April 24 speaks volumes about the quality of his campaign thus far. Crochet has tallied six consecutive quality starts and is tied for 10th in the majors with 10 total on the campaign. He also ranks second in the league with 124 punchouts while posting a 3.25 ERA and 0.95 WHIP through 88.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm

    • Continues impressive stretch
Brown (4-5) earned the win against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.

Advice: The only run scored against Brown came on an Andrew Benintendi solo homer in the fourth inning. Otherwise, Brown was solid again -- all six of Chicago's other hits were singles, and the right-handed hurler didn't issue any walks for the second straight outing. Brown had an awful 9.78 ERA through 23 innings across his first six starts this season, but he's since lowered that mark to 4.72. He's been especially impressive of late, racking up six straight quality starts and limiting his opponents to one run over 19 frames while posting a 22:4 K:BB across his past three outings. • Increasing activity
Gonzales (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Gonzales has been on the injured list since mid-April but has slowly ramped up his activity. Tuesday marked his third bullpen session, and the next step in his return will be live batting practice Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm
    • Throws live BP
Perez (groin) threw live batting practice Monday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: There weren't many details shared about the session, but Perez did tell manager Derek Shelton he felt fine after the activity. Perez may embark on a rehab assignment soon, though there isn't much clarity for the time being. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 pm

    • Just misses quality start
Manaea pitched 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Texas on Wednesday, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six batters.

Advice: Manaea gave up just one run through five frames but ran into trouble in the sixth. In that frame, a two-out Josh Smith double narrowed New York's lead to one and resulted in Manaea getting the hook. Reliever Sean Reid-Foley followed by allowing his inherited runner to score, taking Manaea out of contention for a victory. It was still a pretty strong outing overall for the left-handed starter, though he's now failed to complete six innings in each of his past five starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:34 pm

    • Fans nine in no-decision
Heaney allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Heaney induced 15 swinging strikes in the outing, helping him reach a season-high nine punchouts. The left-hander's strong start was somewhat spoiled by a Pete Alonso two-run homer in the sixth, but Heaney still completed that frame to finish with his fourth quality start of the campaign. The veteran hurler is just 2-8 on the season, but he's offered some stability at the back of Texas' rotation by giving up three or fewer earned runs in each of his past 10 appearances, posting a 3.26 ERA across 49.2 frames during that span. • Serves up two homers in spot start
Liberatore allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Wednesday.

Advice: Liberatore was pressed into a spot start after Kyle Gibson (back) was a late scratch. This was one day after Liberatore was charged with a blown save after allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning. The southpaw yielded solo home runs to Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez in the first inning. Liberatore has a 4.46 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 28:15 K:BB over 38.1 innings over 26 appearances (four starts) this season, though he's mainly operated out of the bullpen as the Cardinals have tried to find one steady role for him. It's unclear at this time if Liberatore would be a candidate to start again should Gibson require a stint on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:22 pm
    • Grabs first win
Medina (1-2) allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Royals.

Advice: Medina came up one out short of a quality start, exiting the game at 88 pitches (54 strikes). He's had two good outings and two poor starts since joining the Athletics' rotation at the start of June. The 25-year-old is now at a 4.71 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 13:10 K:BB through 21 innings this season. With a weak offense to support him and a lack of dominant command, Medina offers minimal upside in fantasy outside of favorable matchups. He'll have one of those in his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:09 pm
