    • McCutchen homers in win over Rockies
Andrew McCutchen hit a homer and scored two runs in a 5-2 win for the Pirates over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: McCutchen is now up to nine homers with his solo shot off Ryan Feltner; one of three homers the Bucs hit against Feltner in the contest. The 37-year-old outfielder also doubled for the sixth time in 2024. It’s a far cry from his MVP status a few years ago, but the pair of extra-base hits improves his slash to a respectable — if modest — .239/.339/.394 over the first 69 games of the campaign. • Freddie Freeman drives in go-ahead run in eighth
Freddie Freeman singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: With the score tied at 3-3, Freeman drove in a run with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and ultimately the victory. The 34-year-old has now driven in 42 runs, and nine of those have come in the first half of June. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Freeman remains one of the best first baseman — and hitters regardless of position — in the sport. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Knocked around in loss
Flexen (2-6) took the loss Friday against Arizona, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Flexen couldn't avoid Arizona's bats in this outing, yielding a season-high nine hits and generating only six whiffs out of his 75 pitches. The Chicago right-hander now owns a 5.35 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB in 67.1 innings this season. Flexen returns home -- where he has been especially poor with a 5.70 ERA over 36.1 innings -- for his next scheduled start against the Astros. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 pm

    • Chris Flexen falls back to earth vs. D-Backs
Chris Flexen allowed six runs — four earned — in 3 1/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Flexen had pitched well over his last three starts, but this was not a continuation. The right-hander gave up nine hits with two walks against two strikeouts. He’ll get a chance to lower a 5.35 ERA against the Astros next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:12 pm

    • Clubs ninth homer
McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Friday's 5-2 win over Colorado.

Advice: McCutchen crushed a mammoth 448-foot solo homer of Ryan Feltner in the sixth inning to give the Pirates a lead they never relinquished. The 37-year-old veteran later tallied another run to his register when a Bryan Reynolds single drove him home in the eighth. McCutchen has been a steady producer over the last 30 days, hitting .297 (28-for-94) with five homers, 19 runs scored and 12 RBI in 22 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:06 pm

    • Belts fourth homer
Riley went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Riley hit an RBI double in the first inning before hammering a two-run homer in the second. It was just his fourth homer of the year and first since May 3, snapping a 23-game drought. During that homerless streak, he posted a brutal .462 OPS. Riley is now slashing .230/.296/.357 with 17 extra-base hits and 23 RBI through 54 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 pm

    • Austin Riley wakes up with three hits, homer
Austin Riley went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three RBI, and two runs scored against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Finally, some signs of life from Riley. His home run was hammered 107.3 MPH and soared 422 feet. All three of his batted balls were hit at least 104 MPH and this feels like it could be the end of Riley’s prolonged cold start this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm

    • Marcell Ozuna crushes 19th home run in win
Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, walk, and two runs scored against the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Ozuna got the Braves going early, taking Zack Littell deep to the opposite field in the first inning and Atlanta wouldn’t look back. Ozuna tied Kyle Tucker for third in the league with 19 home runs and has been one of the best offensive players in baseball so far this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:03 pm

    • Eduardo Rodriguez getting follow-up MRI Saturday
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo a follow-up MRI exam on Saturday.

Advice: Rodriguez has increased his throwing distance to 105 feet in recent days and if all goes well with Saturday’s check-up, he could be cleared to throw off of a mound for the first time. The Diamondbacks are taking every possible precaution here, but they’re hopeful that Rodriguez will be able to join the rotation at some point around the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:11 pm
