    • Hit hard in Tuesday's loss
Cease (7-7) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Padres fell 7-0 to the Rangers. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander got no help from his offense, but Cease created his own problems by serving up six extra-base hits, including a pair of homers by Nathaniel Lowe. Cease has been tagged for four runs or more in three of his last four starts, walking multiple batters each time. He'll take a 4.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 130:32 K:BB through 102 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 5:58 am
    • Swats homer No. 10
Riley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Giants.

Advice: The third baseman took Hayden Birdsong deep in the second inning to open the scoring on the night. Riley's bat has woken up in a big way over the last few weeks -- since June 14, he's slashing .356/.441/.780 in 68 plate appearances with seven of his 10 homers on the year and 12 of his 32 RBI. • Inefficient in no-decision
Lopez came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander blanked San Francisco through four innings but was far from efficient, and when he served up back-to-back solo shots to begin the fifth, Lopez got the hook after 101 pitches (57 strikes). He's walked four batters in two straight trips to the mound, while the 4.1 innings represented his shortest start of the year. Despite the recent stumbles, he still hasn't given up more than three earned runs in an outing in 2024. He'll take a 1.83 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 87:31 K:BB through 83.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Phillies. Rotowire.com Today, 5:29 am
    • Hit hard in loss
Arrighetti (4-7) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks across four innings against Toronto. He struck out five.

Advice: Five of the six hits Arrighetti allowed went for extra bases, including a three-run home run to George Springer and a solo homer to Spencer Horwitz, both of which came in the third inning. Tuesday's outing came on the back of the rookie's best start of 2024 when he blanked the Rockies across seven innings. Arrighetti has surrendered six or more runs three times this season and has walked multiple batters in all but one of his appearances, owning a 6.13 ERA overall. He's on track to close out a two-start week Sunday in Minnesota. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 pm
    • Rights ship with 10 Ks
Herz didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts across 5.2 innings.

Advice: After dazzling with 13 strikeouts over six scoreless innings June 15, Herz yielded eight runs (seven earned) with six strikeouts and four home runs across his next two starts. However, he stopped the skid Tuesday and allowed just one run, which came on a solo homer by Francisco Lindor in the fifth. Though the 23-year-old owns a 4.67 ERA, he's flashed tantalizing fantasy upside as a rookie and is on track to face the Cardinals, who've scored the fourth fewest runs per game this season, in his next start. • Logs quality start in no-decision
Flexen did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Guardians, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Flexen entered the sixth inning in a 3-3 tie but an error by Paul DeJong led to three unearned runs before he finished the frame at 101 pitches. It wasn't the most appealing quality start, but Flexen has now logged two in his past three outings. The 30-year-old has not recorded a win since May 8 and owns a 5.08 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 63:33 K:BB over 85 innings. He lines up for a road matchup with the Marlins this weekend. • Spencer Arrighetti hit hard in loss to Jays
Spencer Arrighetti allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits in four innings in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: He struck out five and walked four on the day while also allowing two home runs. He induced just six whiffs on the day for a 15 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. The rookie now has a 6.13 ERA on the season and with Luis Garcia continuing to progress on his rehab assignment, there may be only a few more starts left for Arrighetti at the big league level in 2024. • Cease allows six earned, two homers vs. Rangers
Dylan Cease allowed eight hits and six earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Cease had an up-and-down first inning. While he recorded all three of his outs via the strikeout, he allowed two hits, with the second coming on a two-run homer by Nathaniel Lowe to give the Rangers an early lead. It would only get worse from there, as Cease would give up another two-run bomb to Lowe in the third inning and was pulled in the fourth inning shortly after allowing a sixth run off a Marcus Semien single. It’s been a rough stretch for Cease, who has allowed 17 earned runs over his last 19 innings while striking out 29 batters and walking nine. Cease will look to bounce back in his next outing, which is set for Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 pm
    • Austin Riley homers again in loss to Giants
Austin Riley went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Giants.

Advice: Riley got the scoring started for the Braves in the second inning when he took Hayden Birdsong 415 feet to left for a solo homer. The home run was Riley’s 10th blast of the season and his third in his last 10 games. The veteran third baseman has gotten off to a slow start this season after three straight 30-plus homer seasons but has now hit safely in six of his last eight games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
