    • Takes blown save
Suarez allowed three runs on four hits in one-third of an inning to take a blown save in Friday's 10-8 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Suarez has typically been dominant when called upon, but he served up a grand slam to Alek Thomas, allowing three inherited runners to score, and then a two-run home run to Randal Grichuk. While the Diamondbacks briefly took an 8-7 lead, Stephen Kolek was able to finish off the inning, and the Padres rallied to win in their half of the ninth. Both of Suarez's blown saves this year have come over his last eight appearances, a span in which he's given up six runs (five earned) across 6.1 innings. He's at a 1.77 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB through 35.2 innings overall while adding 22 saves and a hold. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago
    • Ketel Marte listed as day-to-day with tight back
Ketel Marte is day-to-day after leaving Friday’s game with back tightness.

Advice: If he can’t play Saturday, then the Diamondbacks will use Kevin Newman at second base, since they sent down their best alternative, Blaze Alexander, for no good reason. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Nursing tight back
Marte exited Friday's game against the Padres due to lower-back tightness, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Marte had gone 0-for-4 during Friday's loss before Randal Grichuk pinch hit for him in the ninth inning, and manager Torey Lovullo confirmed after the game that Marte's removal was due to a lingering back issue that has been bothering him for a while. He won't require any imaging, however, and the team is viewing him as day-to-day. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

    • Set to return Tuesday
Schwarber (groin) is expected to be activated off the injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Schwarber has been working through drills at 90 percent intensity, per Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia, and the 31-year-old slugger will run the bases Saturday in the last step in his rehab program before he rejoins the team. Schwarber is slashing .250/.373/447 with 17 home runs, 49 RBI and a .820 OPS over 367 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:18 pm

    • Remaining on rehab assignment
Nootbaar (oblique) will remain on his rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield for at least a couple more days to work on his timing at the plate, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The initial expectation was that Nootbaar would rejoin the Cardinals on the road for their weekend series against the Nationals, but he's evidently not satisfied with his swing and will work to fine-tune things for a bit longer. It now seems likely that Nootbaar will return July 9 when the Cardinals are back home. Rotowire.com Today, 1:41 pm

    • Snaps slump with three hits
Verdugo went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Thursday's loss to Cincinnati.

Advice: Verdugo entered Thursday in the throes of a 12-game slump during which he went 6-for-47 (.128 average). The outfielder showed positive signs of getting back on track against the Reds, not only collecting three knocks but also producing two extra-base hits -- as many as he had tallied during that entire 12-game downturn. While Verdugo is on pace to set a career high in homers and RBI this season (he has nine long balls and 43 runs batted in through 85 games), his .248 batting average and .305 OBP are both on pace for his lowest marks since his 15-game cup of coffee with the Dodgers in 2017. • Angels place 2B Luis Rengifo (wrist) on 15-day IL
Angels placed 2B Luis Rengifo on the 15-day injured list retroactive to July 4th with right wrist inflammation.

Advice: While recent X-rays on Rengifo’s wrist came back negative, the second baseman was still dealing with soreness in his right wrist and now finds himself on the injured list. This is a tough loss for fantasy managers as Rengifo was hitting .315 with 22 stolen bases this season. The timetable for his return is unclear. Rotoworld Today, 11:10 am

    • Goes on IL with wrist inflammation
The Angels placed Rengifo on the 10-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation.

Advice: It appears an MRI cleared Rengifo of any structural damage in the wrist, but with the All-Star break looming, the Angels have opted to go ahead and put the super utility player on the IL. Rengifo will be eligible for activation on July 14, the last day of the first half, but realistically he'll probably be held out at least through the break. He had been seeing most of his playing time lately at third base, and that position now figures to be occupied mostly by Miguel Sano. Rotowire.com Today, 11:01 am

    • Out of lineup, MRI results TBD
Rengifo (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cubs, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Angels are still waiting on the results of an MRI on Rengifo's wrist, which he injured during Wednesday's game against the Athletics. He's currently listed as a reserve on the team's lineup card, but Keston Hiura has been added to the taxi squad and could replace Rengifo on the active roster, depending on the latter's test results.
