    • Gets rest for day game
Diaz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: He'll get a well-deserved breather Thursday after starting at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rockies' last nine games. Jacob Stallings will replace Diaz behind the dish. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:23 am

    • Absent from lineup
Herrera is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Detroit.

Advice: Herrera's bat has slowed and with it so has his playing time, as he's now started just four of the last 10 games and is 0-for-15 at the plate over that span. Willson Contreras is catching Monday, while Paul Goldschmidt is getting a start at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:14 pm

    • Slugs second homer
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: Diaz accounted for half of the Rockies' runs in the contest with his solo shot to center field in the eighth inning. The blast snapped a 19-game homerless drought for the backstop, who belted 14 long balls last season. Despite the modest power output thus far, Diaz has had a nice start to the campaign with a .312/.357/.429 slash line and 11 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:52 pm

    • Elias Díaz slugs solo homer in loss to Padres
Elias Díaz went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: After knocking a base hit in the fourth inning, Díaz hit his second home run of the season with a solo shot in the eighth. He got some help on this one as his deep fly ball bounced off the glove of Jackson Merrill and over the outfield wall. It counts all the same. The 33-year-old backstop is hitting .312/.357/.429 with the two homers and 11 RBI across 84 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:11 pm

    • Iván Herrera goes 0-for-3 versus D-backs
Iván Herrera went 0-for-3 before coming out of Wednesday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: It appeared the decision was to remove him was just for defense, which would be rather interesting if it’s the case. Pedro Pagés replaced him and got a walk in his lone plate appearance. Herrera is in a 1-for-17 slump that’s dropped his OPS from .856 to .668. We believe in his bat, but the Cardinals might revisit the idea of playing him so often between catcher and DH if this slump lingers. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:01 pm
