    • Blanks Cubs over five
Gray (7-2) got the win over the Cubs on Sunday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and walking two. He struck out eight.

Advice: Gray was as sharp as ever, needing 74 pitches to cruise through five innings of work. The 34-year-old registered an impressive 14 whiffs on the night, and the sweeper was his put away pitch, accounting for eight of the 14 whiffs. Gray his now fourth in the majors with seven wins and has seven starts allowing two runs or less. Gray will carry a 2.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 67:12 K:BB into a tough road matchup against the Phillies this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 5:38 am

    • Plays catch
Eflin (back) was able to play catch Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Eflin was placed on the injured list with an effective date of May 19. He was projected to miss two-to-four weeks when first diagnosed, so he'll need to make significant progress quickly to hit the lower range of that timeline. Rotowire.com Today, 12:13 am

    • Sonny Gray defeats Cubs to improve to 7-2
Sonny Gray picked up his seventh victory of the season on Sunday night, allowing just one hit and a pair of walks over five shutout innings against the Cubs.

Advice: The 34-year-old right-hander punched out eight batters on the evening. He got 14 whiffs on just 74 pitches on the night — eight of those on his sweeper alone — while registering an elite CSW of 35 percent. Gray has been as outstanding as ever in his first season with the Cardinals, posting a 7-2 record, 2.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 67/12 K/BB ratio across 52 innings of work through his first nine starts. He’ll attempt to keep the good times rolling when he does battle against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:20 pm

    • Does it all Sunday
Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Sunday's 9-5 win against Washington.

Advice: Rodriguez did it all in this one, establishing a season-best with four RBI and recording a steal for the first time since May 8. The 23-year-old has largely been a disappointment this season, but performances such as this are a reminder of his incredible versatility. With home runs in consecutive games, Rodriguez might finally be heating up for fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:21 pm
    • Tanner Houck strong for six innings in no-decision
Tanner Houck pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Houck struck out seven and walked none in his latest excellent outing. Alas, he didn’t get the victory, as the Red Sox only scored their second run in the bottom of the eighth. Houck has a 1.90 ERA and nine quality starts in 11 tries, yet his record stands at 4-5. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:18 pm
    • Fans seven in no-decision
Houck did not factor into the decision Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing one earned run on seven hits and one walk through six innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Houck was excellent yet again, marking his third consecutive start allowing one earned run or fewer. The 27-year-old has not allowed a home run since April 12, and his microscopic 0.14 HR/9 leads the league. Houck (4-5) now owns a 1.90 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 71 innings this year. He is tentatively scheduled for a home start against Detroit next weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:03 pm
    • Julio Rodríguez goes 3-for-5, homers in victory
Julio Rodríguez went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Mariners bested the Nationals 9-5 on Sunday.

Advice: Rodríguez’s three knocks all checked in between 107 and 109 mph. The Mariners had him batting third today after placing him sixth the previous three days. Last year, a drop in the lineup saw him hit two homers in his first game as a No. 5 hitter and resulted in an immediate return to the top of the order. This year’s drop didn’t pay such immediate dividends, but he has now homered on back-to-back days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:59 pm
    • Resting against lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will check out of the lineup with the White Sox bringing southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill for the series finale. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching duties and will serve as Baltimore's designated hitter in place of O'Hearn. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 am

    • Kicks off rally with homer
O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: With the O's down 3-0 in the eighth inning, O'Hearn got the comeback started with an epic at-bat against Jordan Leasure that saw the slugger foul off five straight pitches before launching a slider over the right-field fence. OHearn remains in a strong-side platoon role -- he's gotten only eight plate appearances against LHP so far in 2024 -- but he does his job well, slashing .294/.364/.521 against lefties this season with seven homers and 18 RBI in 132 PAs.
