    • Making rehab start Sunday
Marsh (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Advice: Royals manager Matt Quatraro hinted Friday at sending Marsh out on a rehab assignment, and the 25-year-old righty will now officially build back up with Omaha. Starting Sunday would put Marsh in line to return to Kansas City's rotation Friday against the Angels, though it's unclear if the Royals will want to keep him in the minors for multiple starts. • Garcia (lower back) could be available Saturday
Yimi Garcia (back) will throw before Saturday’s game to determine his availability.

Advice: Garcia has been unavailable while dealing with a lower back injury. The right-hander will throw before the game, and the Blue Jays will make a determination as to whether he’s available for the contest or not. Garcia has been outstanding in 2024 with a 0.68 ERA and 16/3 K/BB over 13 1/3 innings over 13 appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:36 am
    • Dealing with back soreness
Garcia was unavailable for Friday's game against the Nationals due to back soreness, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Garcia reportedly started having issues with his back after his previous appearance Wednesday. Manager John Schneider said after Friday's contest that Garcia is considered day-to-day, so it's unlikely the right-hander will need to spend any time on the injured list. • May require rehab assignment
Manager Matt Quatraro said Friday that sending Marsh (elbow) on a rehab assignment before returning from the IL "would be a smart thing to do," Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Marsh has been on the injured list since April 25 due to a bruised right elbow. He threw a bullpen session Monday and did so again Friday, though he will likely need to face live hitters before beginning a rehab stint. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:46 pm

    • Alex Lange gets four-out save against Cardinals
Alex Lange got four outs for his second save Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Jason Foley had pitched three of the previous four days, so Lange got the call today. Since giving up five unearned runs in the 12th inning in a loss on Apr. 13, Lange has pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings with a 9/2 K/BB ratio in seven appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:08 pm

    • Snags second save
Lange earned the save in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals, recording two strikeouts and a walk over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Lange struck out Willson Contreras for the final out in the eighth inning before closing the door in the ninth, working around a two-out walk to Paul Goldschmidt for his second save this season. Jason Foley was likely unavailable Wednesday after pitching three of the last four days, though Lange has continued to pitch well in a set-up role -- he's held opponents scoreless in his last 7.2 innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out nine in that span. The 28-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 0.75 with a 1.17 WHIP 16:9 K:BB across 12 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:05 pm

    • Stuck with loss Tuesday
Lopez (2-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings.

Advice: Lopez struck out the side to begin his night en route to tying his season-high in strikeouts. He pitched well overall, but there was not much he could do with Atlanta not scoring until the eighth inning. His one costly mistake came in the third after allowing a two-run blast to Jorge Polanco and the Mariners would tack on a third run in the fourth, which proved to be the deciding run in the game. Tuesday was the first time Lopez had failed to pitch at least six innings and surrender more than a run. He's now given up a home run in back-to-back outings. Still, the 30-year-old has been nothing short of spectacular through the first month, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB in 30 innings. He currently lines up for a meeting with the Red Sox early next week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:37 am

    • Reynaldo López allows three over five in loss
Reynaldo López allowed three runs in five innings while picking up a loss Tuesday to the Mariners.

Advice: López allowed six hits over those five frames, and he struck out seven while walking three with Josh Rojas getting all three free passes. The 30-year-old pitched better than his line suggested, but a two-run homer by Jorge Polanco turned an excellent outing into a shaky one from a fantasy perspective. Lopez still has an excellent 1.50 ERA, and he should be in fantasy lineups against Boston next week. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:47 pm

    • Reed Garrett gets fifth win against Cardinals
Reed Garrett got his fifth win after allowing only an unearned run between the 10th and 11th innings Sunday against the Cardinals.

Advice: The automatic runner scored in the 11th, but that didn’t prove to be a problem, since the Mets came back with three in the bottom of the inning. Garrett is now tied for the major league lead in wins with Tyler Glasnow, Ranger Suárez and fellow reliever A.J. Minter. He has a 27/6 K/BB ratio in 14 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:36 pm
