    • Strong in seventh win
Castillo (7-9) allowed a run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over 6.2 innings to earn the win Friday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Castillo earned his first quality start in four outings with this impressive performance. The only run on his line was a solo home run by Kevin Kiermaier in the sixth inning. Castillo is now at a 3.72 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 111:32 K:BB through 111.1 innings over 19 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Angels in a favorable matchup. • Castillo strikes out eight in victory over Jays
Luis Castillo allowed just two hits with eight strikeouts while holding the Blue Jays to one run in a victory Friday.

Advice: Castillo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a solo homer to Kevin Kiermaier to break up the no-no and the shutout. He allowed a single to Spencer Horwitz a batter later, but that was it in terms of hits. It was a sensational outing for Castillo which has been the usual for the right-hander at home; he has a 2.14 ERA over his last 12 dozen outings in Seattle. The road has been a tougher task for him, but for the most part, Castillo has been a strong option in 2024. This was an example of him at his best. Rotoworld Today, 9:13 pm

    • Allows five runs in no-decision
Gray did not factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 win against the Nationals, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Gray allowed a total of five runs over the first three innings and departed after five frames with a 5-3 deficit. He surrendered eight hard hits and now carries a 5.09 ERA in road starts compared to a 1.90 mark at home . On the season, the 34-year-old owns a 3.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 115:24 K:BB over 92.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup against the Royals next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:08 pm

    • Tanner Houck erratic, pulled in fourth inning
Tanner Houck allowed three runs, one earned, over 3 1/3 innings on Friday against the Yankees. He walked four batters and struck out just one in a no-decision.

Advice: A 45 minute rain delay early in this game made this start a bit wonky. Houck cruised through the first two innings before the storm and lost his touch afterwards. The three runs off him came on a fielder’s choice with an error, walk, and ground out. It’s been a rough few weeks for Houck relative to his early-season prowess, but this outing was more weird than outright bad. Rotoworld Today, 8:05 pm
    • Aaron Nola strikes out eight in win
Aaron Nola allowed three earned runs across six innings in a win Friday against the Braves. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

Advice: Nola was fantastic in this one. His 21 swings-and-misses were the most he’s forced in a game this season and first time he’s hit that total since June 5th of last year. His vaunted knuckle curve stymied the Braves all night and Nola looked dominant despite the three runs. Rotoworld Today, 7:47 pm

    • Delivers quality start
Nola (10-4) yielded three runs on five hits over six innings Friday, striking out eight and earning a win over Atlanta.

Advice: Nola got through three shutout frames before coughing up a two-run shot to Austin Riley in the fourth inning. Ozzie Albies then knocked a solo homer in the sixth. It was the first time that Nola gave up multiple home runs since May 31 after allowing three in the entire month of June. He forced a season-high 21 swinging strikes, with 10 coming on the knuckle curve. He's delivered quality starts in nine of his last 10 outings, including four straight. During that 10-start stretch, the veteran righty has posted a 3.34 ERA while going 6-2. Nola will carry a 3.48 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be at home against the Dodgers. • Sonny Gray hit hard by Nationals
Sonny Gray allowed eight hits and five runs in five innings of work against the Nationals on Friday. He struck out six and walked one in a no-decision.

Advice: It was a very humid night in our nation’s capital and you could see the sweat pouring off Gray in his gray jersey. Clearly uncomfortable, he also could not find a way through lefties CJ Abrams, Jesse Winker, and Luis García Jr. They all tagged him for at least one extra-base hit while Winker and García had five combined hard-hit balls off Gray. He struggles with lefties relative to righties (.319 wOBA vs. L, .210 wOBA vs. R) mostly because his sweeper is less effective against opposite-handed batters. He tried to combat that with more curveballs, but it wasn’t enough. Rotoworld Today, 7:24 pm

    • Luis Robert Jr. swipes two bases in win over Fish
Luis Robert Jr. went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, drew two walks and swiped a pair of bases as the White Sox triumphed over the Marlins on Friday evening in Miami.

Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder smacked a one-out single off of Bryan Hoenig in the third inning and swiped second base, but the White Sox were unable to cash him in. He also drew a two-out walk in the sixth inning and nabbed second again before being stranded there. On the season, he’s now hitting .235/.313/.515 with 10 homers, 18 RBI and six stolen bases through his first 35 games. Rotoworld Today, 7:11 pm

    • Making rehab appearance Saturday
Garcia (elbow) will pitch for Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Garcia isn't expected to require more than two rehab appearances, with Saturday's outing his first with Buffalo. With Jordan Romano (elbow) out for the foreseeable future, Garcia could step into the Blue Jays' closing role once activated from the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 5:03 pm
