    • Andrés Giménez returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Royals
Andrés Giménez returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Royals.

Advice: Giménez is back at second base and batting second for Tuesday’s series opener against the Royals following a two-game absence due to an undisclosed injury. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
    • Abreu (ankle) hopeful for minimum stint on IL
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) told reporters Tuesday that he’s hopeful he can return from the injured list after the minimum 10 days passes.

Advice: Abreu was placed on the 10-day injured list with his ankle sprain prior to Tuesday’s game. The outfielder told reporters that an MRI revealed a good deal of inflammation, but no structural damage. The Red Sox will obviously take the necessary precautions, but there’s a chance Abreu is back as the starting right fielder for the Red Sox in the middle of June. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Sent to 10-day IL
Abreu (right ankle sprain) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to June 3, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Abreu will be sidelined for a little over a week after spraining his ankle in the Red Sox's dugout Sunday. Per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, Abreu is hoping to return after the minimum 10 days. Bobby Dalbec drew the start in right field Tuesday, but one of Rob Refsnyder and Tyler O'Neill (knee) should fill right once O'Neill gets activated later this week. Rotowire.com Today, 12:30 pm

    • IL stint imminent
Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Abreu (ankle) will be placed on the injured list, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Abreu twisted his right ankle in the dugout during Sunday's game and the injury seems to be severe enough to warrant a significant absence, although exactly how long Abreu will be out remains to be seen. Tyler O'Neill (knee) could return Wednesday to take Abreu's place on the roster and in the outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 11:45 am

    • Red Sox place Wilyer Abreu (ankle) on 10-day IL
Red Sox placed OF Wilyer Abreu on the 10-day injured list with an ankle sprain.

Advice: Abreu hurt his ankle during Sunday’s loss after sliding down the dugout steps in the game. He’ll miss at least a week, but his status going forward will be determined by testing, which manager Alex Cora reports is happening currently. Tyler Heineman is up from Triple-A Worcester to take Abreu’s place on the roster. Rotoworld Today, 11:38 am

    • Records sixth steal
Westburg went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Westburg has hit safely in his last eight games, going 12-for-31 (.387) in that span. The steal was his first since May 11 and his sixth on nine attempts this season. It's unlikely Westburg will be negatively impacted by the Orioles' promotion of Connor Norby to replace Jorge Mateo (concussion) on the 26-man roster -- Westburg should continue to see near-everyday playing time between third base and second base. The 25-year-old is slashing .292/.348/.510 with nine home runs, 36 RBI and 30 runs scored over 222 plate appearances as he enjoys a breakout in his second major-league campaign. • Candelario cracks seventh home run Monday
Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Candelario’s home run was his seventh of the season. He’s had two hits in each of his last three games and is now 12-for-40 (.300) with three home runs and six RBI over his last 10 games. Candelario seems to be heating up at the plate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:53 pm

    • Goes deep in win
Candelario went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.

Advice: Candelario belted a two-run shot in the third inning before adding a double and another run in the fifth. After an 11-game homerless drought in the middle of May, he's knocked three home runs over his last 11 contests. During that span, he's boosted his season OPS from .663 to .739 through 214 total plate appearances. It was also Candelario's third straight multi-hit performance and his first game all season with multiple extra-base hits. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm

Advice: Garcia snapped a five-game hitless streak Sunday, delivering two hits and pushing his RBI total to 40 this season. He also notched his 13th long ball of 2024, taking Trevor Rogers yard in the sixth frame. Garcia ranks top 15 in homers and RBI this year and is slashing .231/.285/.462 through 212 plate appearances.
