  • Accounts for lone run in loss
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Goldschmidt has homered three times over his last two games, though it's still too early to say he's completely out of the woods for his slow start to the campaign. He's shown some encouraging signs, hitting safely in all but one of his last 14 games while going 18-for-61 (.295) in that span. The first baseman is up to seven homers, 22 RBI, 26 runs scored and three stolen bases with a .222/.297/.359 slash line over 50 contests this season. Despite his recent success, he's striking out at a 31.5 percent clip and has struck out 32 times over 21 games in May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:27 pm
  • Racks up three hits
Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-3 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Mountcastle has hit safely in his last six games, going 11-for-25 (.440) in that span. During the streak, he has a double in four of those six games, though he's added just two RBI and has not hit a home run since May 8. Nonetheless, the first baseman is putting together a strong campaign with a .280/.317/.468 slash line, six homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 47 games. • Cronenworth has double, RBI against Marlins Monday
Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs. • LaMonte Wade Jr. likely to go IL due to hamstring
LaMonte Wade Jr. has a strained left hamstring and will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

Advice: Expectations are that Wade will go on the injured list. That’ll probably make Wilmer Flores the Giants’ primary first baseman for at least a couple of weeks. Tyler Fitzgerald or David Villar are candidates to join the Giants in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:20 pm
  • Bellinger has two-hit game Monday
Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: It was a quiet day for the Cubs offense as they could only muster one run. Bellinger, however, has been hot at the plate since a slow start early this season. He’s 31-for-104 (.298) since April 13th.

  • Jon Singleton gets nod at DH with José Abreu back
Jon Singleton is starting at DH and batting seventh Monday with José Abreu back at first base.

Advice: We’re not sure how much we’ll see of this, considering that it means sacrificing some defense by playing Yordan Alvarez in left and sitting two of Mauricio Dubón, Chas McCormick and Jake Meyers (Meyers is the one playing tonight). If Singleton is going to stick in the lineup, it really ought to be over Abreu. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:20 pm
  • Absent from lineup
Diaz is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Seattle.

Advice: Victor Caratini will do the catching for Framber Valdez. Diaz -- who had started the last three games and five of the last six -- has just a .501 OPS in May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm
  • A’s outright Jordan Diaz to Triple-A
Athletics sent INF Jordan Diaz outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: It’s surprising no one wanted to take a shot on a 23-year-old with some pretty good minor league numbers, but Diaz never has settled into a position and conditioning issues became a factor in his downfall with the A’s. Hopefully, he’ll earn another look at some point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:06 pm

  • Jeimer Candelario back in the lineup on Monday
Jeimer Candelario (neck) is back in the lineup on Monday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Candelario missed two games with a neck injury but is back in the lineup at third base and hitting third in the order. The 30-year-old has been turning the corner a bit in May, slashing .257/.313/.432 in 20 games in May with two home runs, 10 RBI, and just a 16.3 percent strikeout rate. He seems like a good bet to go on a hot streak in the coming weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:29 am
