• Assad struggles to miss bats in no decision
Javier Assad allowed one run on five hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Assad didn’t walk a batter on the night, but he had just one strikeout, a seven percent whiff rate, and a 17 percent CSW. He had just three whiffs on 45 swings in the game and all three of them came on version of a fastball. Assad doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but he can mix and match the shapes and movement on his fastball and has a deep six-pitch arsenal that keeps hitters off balance. That worked tonight and it’s worked for much of the season as evidenced by his 1.97 ERA, but it’s a risky tightrope to walk. He’s still worth starting in most formats while he’s going well, but he can possibly be benched in shallower leagues with weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

  • Scratched after delay
Montgomery will not start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: The beginning of Tuesday's contest was delayed roughly two hours after a bee colony formed on the net behind home plate, and the lengthy delay will cause Montgomery to sit down while Brandon Hughes starts in a bullpen game. Montgomery's next start will likely be pushed back to Wednesday. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • Manaea pitches good enough in no decision
Sean Manaea allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: While Manaea only gave up one hit, he also walked four batters in five innings and threw a first-pitch strike to just 10 of the 21 batters he faced. He was able to consistently find the zone with his four-seam and sinker, but his sweeper and changeup were less successful, and he didn’t get a single whiff on the sweeper. Still, the fastballs and changeup were more than enough on Tuesday, as he put together a 36 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. Inefficiency has been an issue for Manaea throughout the season, which has put a damper on his fantasy appeal since he has a 3.07 ERA and has looked good for long stretches. He can probably be trusted in deeper leagues against the Rays this weekend, and could be a riser in fantasy circles if he can improve his command. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • McArthur notches seventh save of the season
James McArthur pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 4-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: The tall right-hander didn’t allow a single baserunner while striking out one and picking up his seventh save of the season. He has been solid since taking the closer’s job from Will Smith, posting a 2.63 ERA on the year. While there have arguably been better pitchers in the Royals’ bullpen, McArthur is the clear favorite for saves and that isn’t likely to change any time soon. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Semien doubles and triples in two-hit night
Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

Advice: Semien played the role of catalyst for the Rangers on Tuesday night, as he would eventually come around to score on both of his hits on the evening in a game the Rangers won handily by a score of 7-1. Semien closes out the month of April, slashing .258/.319/.452 while also belting five homers and driving in 20 runs. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Massey homers in win over Blue Jays
Michael Massey went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Massey took a second-inning pitch from Jose Berríos and deposited it 404 feet for his first home run of the season. It was all the Royals would need on the day. Massey has returned to an everyday role since coming off the injured list a little over a week ago. He’s slashing just .212/.212/.333 with five RBI, but he should get it going and remains firmly on the radar for 15-team fantasy leagues and deeper. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Bo Bichette drives in run in loss
Bo Bichette went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: Bichette continues to make an elite amount of contact but also swing at pitches that he can’t really do much damage on. As a result, he has a .213 average and just a .306 slugging percentage on the season. The RBI was his 11th of the year, and while the 26-year-old could likely use a more selective approach at the plate, he’s too talented to take out of your lineup right now. • Tommy Pham doubles in two-hit game vs. Twins
Tommy Pham went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Pham continued his hot start with the White Sox on Tuesday and has now hit safely in four of his first five games. His RBI single in the fourth gave him his first RBI on the season and put the White Sox up 2-0, and he later came around to score in the third inning after hitting his first double of the year. Pham is now batting.350 on the year, but is stuck in a lineup that offers little to no run production. He can’t be relied on for much at this time as far as fantasy is concerned.

  • José Berríos gets tough luck loss against Royals
José Berríos allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings in a loss to the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: Berríos was good, but Cole Ragans was just better. Berríos also struck out just three on the evening while walking one and posting just a 13 percent whiff rate. He did register a 27 percent CSW thanks to his ability to pound the zone with his sinker, but his curve and changeup couldn’t consistently find the zone and he got few chases out of the zone on that breaking ball which limited his overall effectiveness. Berríos has outpitched his peripheries so far this year and there is some regression coming on his 1.44 ERA but you can still start him every game while he’s pitching like this, including next week against the Phillies.
