      Pete Fairbanks put out a bases-loaded jam to secure a save in a 9-5 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

      Advice: Phil Maton started the ninth inning with the Rays up by four runs, but he allowed three straight hits, so the Rays called on Fairbanks to bail them out. The right-hander got two strikeouts and then a groundout to end the game and earn his seventh save of the season.       Advice: Bednar didn’t allow a hit and also didn’t record a strikeout in the inning. The right-hander has thrown seven straight scoreless outings and has been scoreless in 10 of his last 11 appearances.       Advice: Ober was tagged for just three hits over five frames, but a solo homer from Gleyber Torres and two-run double by Aaron Judge were enough to saddle him with a loss in a matchup against Yankees emerging start Luis Gil. He finished with a pair of strikeouts and also issued four walks.       Jared Jones threw six scoreless innings in a win over the Dodgers, striking out six and walking three.

      Advice: Jones allowed three hits on the night and just one extra-base hit, a double to Freddie Freeman. After allowing at least three runs in four straight starts, including five earned runs in his last start against the Tigers, some questions were mounting about whether Jones was tiring. Instead, he came out and shut down the Dodgers. It wasn’t an electric start with just a 21 percent CSW, but he did get 12 whiffs on 51 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate.       Advice: It was an impressive return to form for Jones after he gave up a season-high five runs in 4.1 innings in his last start against Detroit. It's the fifth quality start in Jones' last six outings -- his ERA now sits at 3.25 with a 1.01 WHIP 76:15 K:BB across 12 starts (69.1 innings) in his rookie campaign.       Advice: Skubal surrendered a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien in the first inning but held the Rangers in check over the next five and left the mound in a 1-1 tie. Skubal allowed at least one baserunner in each inning, but he was still able to earn a quality start despite not having his best stuff.
