• Nails down second save
Megill earned the save Friday in a 3-1 win over the Cubs, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Megill's appeared in the Brewers' last two save chances -- he set down the four, five and six batters in the Cubs' order Friday after Joel Payamps faced the top of the lineup in the eighth. Megill and Payamps both figure to see their share of ninth-inning work with Devin Williams (back) likely out until the All-Star break. The 30-year-old Megill lowered his ERA to 1.17 with a 0.91 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB through his first 7.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
  • Set for bullpen session
Middleton (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Middleton has been on the 15-day IL since the start of the season after sustaining a right forearm strain in mid-March. He recently extended his throwing distance to 110 feet with no setback, and the right-hander has progressed enough to take the next step in his rehab program. Middleton will likely need multiple bullpen sessions without issue before beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Pete Fairbanks ready to start rehab on Tuesday
Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler has been out since April 22 due to a nerve-related condition that caused him difficulty in gripping the baseball. He should only need an outing or two there before he’s ready to rejoin the Rays’ bullpen. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • Brought up by Rangers
Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Advice: Rodriguez will fill the spot of Nathan Eovaldi (groin) who was placed on the 15-Day IL on Friday. In six appearances with the Rangers this season, Rodriguez garnered a 10.50 ERA and a 2.50 WHIP with three home runs allowed. Rotowire.com Today, 2:05 pm
  • Trevor Megill nails down save for Brewers
Trevor Megill worked a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for a save against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Megill got the ninth after Joel Payamps worked a scoreless eighth today. It looks like this might be the most frequent arrangement until the Brewers get Devin Williams back. Both Megill and Payamps are still probably worth using in 12-team leagues, but of the two, we’d take our chances with Megill. Rotoworld Today, 2:02 pm
  • Heyden Wesneski turns in 6 1/3 scoreless innings
Hayden Wesneski shut out the Brewers for 6 1/3 innings and struck out eight in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: He allowed three hits and walked two. Wesneski gave up five balls hit at least 100 mph today, yet they all turned into outs. He has a 0.54 ERA after two starts and two relief appearances, but with Justin Steele returning and Kyle Hendricks probably right behind him, it’s unclear if he’ll get another start. • Adbert Alzolay gives up three runs to take loss
After coming in with a 1-0 lead in the eighth, Adbert Alzolay gave up three runs on four hits to take a loss to the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: All four hits were singles, and three of them were soft, coming in at 80 mph or less. Two were grounders perfectly placed in between Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner up the middle. To be fair, Alzolay was missing his spots, and he hurt his cause by paying no attention to the baserunners and giving up three steals. Obviously, this won’t help his chances of seeing saves again anytime soon. Still, this isn’t how he usually struggles when he’s ineffective; he hadn’t allowed more than two hits in an appearance since last Sept. 1. Rotoworld Today, 2:02 pm
  • Cleared to throw
Beck (arm) has been cleared to begin a throwing program, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Beck had surgery back in early March to address an aneurysm in his upper right arm. He is facing a slow build-up, with a return not expected until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 1:47 pm

  • Set for Double-A appearance
Burdi (hip) will throw in a rehab game at Double-A Somerset on Sunday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Burdi's rehab stint will begin Sunday at the Double-A level after missing the last 11 days of April with right hip inflammation. He's yet to allow a run in seven MLB appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:43 pm
