    • Framber Valdez gets early hook in loss to Giants
Framber Valdez was shelled for five runs over four innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: On the heels of a complete-game effort his last time out, Valdez was pulled in this one after just 59 pitches (37 strikes) following four frames. Houston’s ace wasn’t particularly effective in this one as the Giants tagged him for eight hits over four frames. He finished with just one strikeout and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring a solid 3.99 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 51/19 K/BB ratio across 67 2/3 innings (11 starts) into a favorable road tilt on Wednesday against the floundering White Sox. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:17 pm
    • Grabs four-out save
Garcia struck out three without allowing a baserunner over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia inherited two runners from Trevor Richards in the eighth inning, and the Brewers pulled off a double steal to get them both in scoring position. It didn't matter, as Garcia struck out Blake Perkins before pitching a clean ninth to get the four-out save. This was Garcia's fifth save of the year, three of which have come in June while Jordan Romano (elbow) has been on the injured list. Garcia has added nine holds and one blown save while pitching to a 1.98 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB through 27.1 innings this season. As long as Romano is out, Garcia appears to be the top option for saves in the Toronto bullpen. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:15 pm

    • Yimi Garcia earns fifth save of season vs. Brewers
Yimi Garcia pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, earning the save in Tuesday’s win over the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia was solid in this one, striking out three of his four batters faced while earning a four-out save to secure the shutout over the Brewers. It was a far better outing than he saw in his last save opportunity when he gave up two runs last week against the Orioles despite still earning the save. Garcia is boasting a solid 1.98 ERA and 0.66 WHIP on the year, and could be close to earning a role as the Jays’ permanent closer while Jordan Romano (elbow) remains away. • Falls to Orioles
Fried (6-3) took the loss Tuesday against Baltimore, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Three of the runs charged to Fried came on a Jorge Mateo homer in the second inning. It was a tough night for the 30-year-old left-hander -- Fried had won three consecutive starts prior to Tuesday, allowing just three earned runs over 24 innings while striking out 28 in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 3.20 on the year with a 1.06 WHIP and 70:24 K:BB across 13 starts (78.2 innings). Fried will look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week at home against the Tigers. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:18 pm

    • Max Fried turns in rare dud Tuesday vs. Orioles
Max Fried allowed four runs over five innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Orioles.

Advice: It wasn’t a total clunker, but it certainly qualifies as a rare dud for Fried, who was pitching on extra rest in this one and ended up allowing four earned runs for the first time since May 5. He was tagged for six hits, including a three-run homer by Jorge Mateo, and only finished with three strikeouts in an abbreviated outing. He’ll bring a solid 3.20 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 70/24 K/BB ratio across 78 2/3 innings (13 starts) into a favorable matchup on Sunday against the Rays. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:06 pm

    • Set for internal brace surgery
Manoah won't require a traditional Tommy John surgery and is instead slated to undergo a hybrid internal brace procedure Monday to repair the sprained UCL in his right elbow, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider had previously disclosed Friday that Manoah would require a season-ending elbow surgery, but Davidi's report provides more specificity regarding the nature of the procedure. Renowned arm specialist Dr. Keith Meister is set to perform the procedure, which involves replacing the UCL and anchoring the new UCL to an internal brace suture. Though the internal brace procedure typically shortens the length of a pitcher's recovery compared to the 12-to-18-month timeline for Tommy John surgery, Davidi notes that Manoah is still expected to be on the shelf "well into next year." The significant arm injury further muddles Manoah's long-term outlook with the Blue Jays, which had already been somewhat murky following a disastrous 2023 campaign in which he posted a 5.87 ERA and 14.2 percent walk rate over 87.1 innings. • Secures 15th save
Kimbrel picked up the save in Monday's 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay. He pitched a scoreless inning allowing no hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Advice: Trouble seemed to be brewing in the ninth for Kimbrel as he issued a leadoff walk to Amed Rosario, his first free pass allowed since May 8. However, the veteran closer collected himself, punching out two batters before wrapping up the Baltimore win by inducing a Jose Caballero popup. Including this effort, Kimbrel has pitched 11 consecutive outings without allowing an earned run, firing 10 innings with a 0.30 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:46 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel quiets Rays to notch 15th save
Craig Kimbrel tossed a scoreless frame on Monday against the Rays to collect his 15th save of the season.

Advice: Kimbrel got the call to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and managed to work around a leadoff walk to Amed Rosario by striking out Jose Siri and Richie Palacios before coaxing a game-ending pop up from José Caballero. The 36-year-old veteran stopper has righted the ship over the last few weeks since reclaiming Baltimore’s closer role back in mid-May by converting second consecutive save opportunities since May 19. • Collects third win
Garcia (3-0) struck out one in a perfect inning Sunday to pick up the win over Oakland.

Advice: The Blue Jays won 6-3 in the 10th inning, handing Garcia the victory after he preserved the tie in the ninth. The right-hander has either a win or a save in four straight appearances, and he's been Toronto's next high-leverage option this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 34:7 K:BB through 26 innings with nine holds and four saves in addition to his three wins.
