    • Tyler Anderson issues six walks in loss to Yankees
Tyler Anderson allowed one run with four strikeouts across five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Anderson was fortunate to give up just the one run as he battled control issues against the Yankees, allowing six free passes. He walked the bases loaded in the first inning, but was able to escape the jam with a pop out double play and a groundout. Anderson worked around two more hits and a walk in the second. The Yankees would finally get a run in with a solo homer by Alex Verdugo in the fourth. Anderson would pitch a scoreless fifth, again working around a pair of walks, before his day was done at 95 pitches. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 2.47 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 48/29 K/BB ratio across 69 1/3 innings into a start against the Padres in Anaheim on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:12 pm

    • Headed for MRI
Manoah will receive an MRI on his right elbow Thursday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manoah allowed one hit and struck out three batters in 1.2 innings Wednesday versus the White Sox before right elbow discomfort forced him out of the game early. The Blue Jays will wait for the results of his MRI before making any decisions, but there is a chance the 26-year-old righty will require a trip to the injured list. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:42 pm

    • Alek Manoah (elbow) set to undergo MRI on Thursday
Blue Jays’ manager John Schneider told reporters after Wednesday’s game that Alek Manoah will undergo an MRI exam on his injured right elbow on Thursday.

Advice: Manoah suffered the injury during the second inning of his start against the White Sox on Wednesday. The 26-year-old hurler has pitched well in his five starts for the Jays this season, compiling a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 26/8 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings. Expect the Jays to provide another update on his status — and perhaps a timeline for his return — after Thursday’s exam. All fantasy managers can do in the meantime is hope for the best. • Alek Manoah leaves start with right elbow issue
Alek Manoah was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the White Sox due to discomfort in his right elbow.

Advice: Ugh, that’s never what you want to hear. The 26-year-old hurler had been pitching well too — allowing just one hit and striking out three batters over his first 1 2/3 innings. He’ll head for additional tests and imaging to determine the severity of the issue, but you would have to think that a trip to the injured list is coming. It’s a tough break for someone who worked so hard to claw his way back to the Blue Jays’ rotation. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:03 pm

    • Exits with trainer
Manoah was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox in the second inning due right elbow discomfort.

Advice: The severity of Manoah's injury isn't immediately apparent, but it was enough to warrant his removal after recording just five outs Wednesday. He is tentatively scheduled to pitch again Tuesday against the Orioles, though a clearer picture of his status for that game will come once the Jays are able to take a closer look at him. • Blanks Nats for fifth win
Fried (5-2) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up seven hits and a walk over eight scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Nationals. He struck out six.

Advice: The southpaw was locked in a surprising pitchers' duel with Jake Irvin through six innings, but Fried outlasted his opposite number and Atlanta got to Washington's bullpen in the seventh. Fried has produced five quality starts in his last seven trips to the mound, allowing zero runs in four of them, and he sports a stellar 1.43 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB through 50.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the A's. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:37 am

    • Let down by defense Tuesday
Littell (2-3) took the loss Tuesday as the Rays fell 3-0 to the A's, allowing three unearned runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: The right-hander set a new career high in strikeouts, generating 30 called or swinging strikes among his 95 pitches, but a Brandon Lowe error helped prolong the sixth inning and set the stage for a three-run homer by Miguel Andujar. Littell had to settle for his fourth quality start of the year, and he'll take a 3.03 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 64:10 K:BB through 62.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Baltimore. • Short start as expected
Eovaldi allowed two runs on five hits and struck out two without walking a batter over three innings while taking a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Eovaldi wasn't sent on a rehab assignment and was reportedly on a pitch count for his return from a groin strain. The right-hander ended up throwing 37 pitches (27 strikes) in his first start since May 2. Eovaldi is at a 2.84 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB through 44.1 innings over eight starts this season. Given his limited workload Tuesday, Eovaldi may need to be stretched out over the next couple of weeks. That may make it tough for him to qualify for the win in his next projected start. It's possible Eovaldi pitches again this weekend versus Miami, as Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports that Andrew Heaney -- who threw 2.1 innings in relief Tuesday -- could be used as a long reliever while the Rangers' schedule doesn't require them to have five starters. • Eovaldi goes three innings in return from IL
Nathan Eovaldi allowed two earned runs over three innings in Tuesday’s win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After pitching a perfect first inning, Eovaldi ran into trouble in the second, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, with Pavin Smith doubling home Christian Walker to give the Diamondbacks their first run of the night. He would give up another run in the inning on a Eugenio Suárez sacrifice fly. He would only pitch one more inning before being pulled after 37 pitches, functioning somewhat as an opener for the Rangers after the team opted to scratch Dane Dunning from his scheduled start. It was Eovaldi’s first outing since May 2nd after he was placed on the 15-day IL with a groin strain. If he’s back on the five-game rotation, his next start would be scheduled for Monday against the Tigers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:28 pm
