    • Clubs homer Friday
Castro went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Castro logged his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, with the lone exception being Thursday when he started on the bench. Batting .290 (20-for-69) in June, Castro has been impressive for the Twins, and it hasn't been just an empty average. He has nine extra-base hits, eight RBI and 13 runs scored over 19 contests this month. For the season, he's posted a .272/.357/.444 slash line with six homers, 24 RBI, 43 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a career-high 19 doubles through 76 games. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

    • Cal Raleigh slips below Mendoza Line in loss
Cal Raleigh went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Marlins on Friday.

Advice: Raleigh often seems to come up with the big hit, but the little hit has been a problem this year, as he’s batted just .198/.276/.380 in 272 plate appearances. The Mariners aren’t going to change much about his usage, but maybe they’ll give him the occasional extra day off and roll with Mitch Garver behind the plate. Rotoworld Today, 9:56 pm

    • Goes deep in loss
Tovar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Washington.

Advice: Tovar was stuck in a small 1-for-18 slump over his previous five games before Friday's strong performance. He put the Rockies on the board with a solo shot in the third inning, giving him 12 this year and four in his last 13 contests. Tovar is now slashing .285/.312/.487 with 37 extra-base hits and 40 runs scored through 75 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:05 pm

    • Ezequiel Tovar homers, collects three hits in loss
Ezequiel Tovar homered while going 3-for-5 in a loss Friday to the Nationals.

Advice: The Rockies were able to pick up three homers off DJ Herz, and Tovar hit a solo shot off Herz in the third for his 12th homer of the year. The 22-year-old shortstop has put together a very strong first half of 2024 in his second full season with a .280 average, 799 OPS and 36 RBI. There’s massive upside for Tovar, especially when you remember his home park. Rotoworld Today, 8:41 pm

    • Dodgers transfer Max Muncy to 60-day IL
Dodgers transferred INF Max Muncy to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 33-year-old slugger has been shelved since May 17 due to a right oblique strain. There’s still no clear timetable for when he may be able to rejoin the Dodgers, though he now won’t be eligible to return until July 16 at the earliest. Muncy did take ground balls prior to Friday’s game, but he has a long way to go to build back up before he’s ready to be activated. Rotoworld Today, 6:02 pm

    • Transferred to 60-day IL
The Dodgers Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jack Harris reports.

Advice: Muncy was placed on the 10-day IL on May 17 due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. It took him nearly a month to begin taking dry swings and he has been limited to fielding grounders and running the bases. With more steps needed before beginning a rehab assignment, the Dodgers opted to move Muncy to the 60-day IL on Friday, meaning he won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers activated Kyle Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, per Harris. Rotowire.com Today, 5:55 pm

    • Not starting Friday
Perkins is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Perkins has struggled over his last 10 games, going 4-for-31 with a 34.3 percent strikeout rate, and he has not recorded a hit over his last four games. Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich will man the outfield Friday while Tyler Black serves as the designated hitter against Padres right-hander Dylan Cease. • Ketel Marte absent from Diamondbacks lineup Friday
Ketel Marte is absent from the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting second baseman. Blaze Alexander will draw a rare start at second base in his place and will bat eighth for the Diamondbacks against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies on Friday evening in Philadelphia. • Not in Friday's lineup
Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Marte served as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter Thursday and is now out of their lineup altogether, although there's no indication at this point that this is anything other than a routine day off. Blaze Alexander is handling second base Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:22 am
